Learning from others mistakes

Hi my name is Sergio and I'm a Track-a-holic. I too admit to attending other events when cash has been low and I needed my fix. Please get me help soon... first the bimmer and now possibily the beamer as well. It's too late for me, I'm done.

Im gonna attribute that to some sort of mechanical problem(ie-suspension component breaking, tire blow out). The sound leads me to beleive it was a tire issue.

That guy was one hell of a driver. Look at how quickly he countersteers.

Yeah, it sounds like some type of mechanical failure(like vaio said, maybe a tire blowout). What's really scary is how he gets airbone and it goes silent for just a bit... til he makes landfall.

From an email list I'm on, where that video was already posted:
It's das Rad. he says Rader schaden hinten links. (wheel failure rear left).

He also says I went flying (ich bin abgeflugen)

wow... I think he said he went off at Hohe Acht... isn't that right after the Karusell where it begins to go downhill and get real twisty (not like the rest of the track isn't twisty as it is... but...)

Daaaaaym! I wish the camera hadn't lost focus while he was tumbling, it would have been interesting to see exactly what happened. I also would like to see what that looked like from the outside, or at least what the car looks like now.

whaaaa. what a ride. Looked like he flipped it - dunno hard to tell. Went in backwards and ended up heading the right way. Looked like he walked away though. Either he just lost it or something broke.

At first I thought he tapped the gator, but he's too far away. There was a little sound just before it went sidways. Don't know if that was sliding tire or getting on the gas though.

Stuff like this is a good reminder to myself as to why I don't race. I'm going to have to be seriously wealthy before I spend that much money on a race car, to have it all potentially taken away with no recourse.

For the most part, especially out here in the Pacific Region, that would be a very rare occurance (more than 2 cars in any incident) in BMW Club Racing, so I don't want to paint a gloom and doom picture - and it is possible to insure race cars.

But any car used for racing should be a car that can be afforded to be lost.

Wow. From reading that thread, they had some nasty drivers in that race.
An E30 M3 was totalled by an E36 and the E36 driver never stopped or made contact after the race. A hit and run in club racing.

Actually, it turns out they don't think the white e36 actually made contact, but you're right, the club racers should normally get together and talk about the close calls.

A few more single car incidents at BMW Club Races at Road Atlanta this time. At least one car totalled and he'll need ankle surgery. Thread on bfc here:

At 0:14 you can see the wheel roll by the front of the car.

The car in the Nurburgring clip did not roll. play the clip over again and pause. The windshield wiper was always in the upright position, and you don't see the roof damage at all.

I think it did roll judging by the amount of dark colors vs blue when the car was crashing". Ofcourse the windshield wiper will stay upright as the camera is in a fixed position. How can or can't you see roof damage? You can't even see the roof.
