He definitely went airborne after hitting the barrier going backwards, but I think he spun around in midair, not rolled. The blue you see at the bottom is the dashboard as the camera goes back into focus.

Doesn't really matter, it was a pretty bad wreck.

This is a friend of mine, whose pride and joy is a 996 turbo with 700hp. In this clip he's driving a C5 vette. Pushy loosey? It's about 1:20 into the vid.

Edit: did I hear him shift while turning?

that turn I guess is a little tricky if you got a lot of rear wheel power because I think it drops away under you. If you lift and get back on the throttle like it seems like this guy is doing, you'll spin. He also crossed the solid white line coming out of the pits (that's a no no) and seems to take a tight line at the first turn. Also, this might just be me and the movie, but he seems to be throwing the car around and pulsing the throttle somewhat, especially at the high speed S-es.

Glad to see he didn't bang up his ride like the 997 GT3 and C5 Vette I saw at VIR last.

I asked him what happened. He indicated that the ambient temperature was around 50 degrees and it was his first lap of the day. He attributes the spin to the tires not being warmed up. They were R comps. There was no visible damage, but apparently the oil pan got dented or punctured. He threw a rod right through the block later that day. Good bye LS1!!!!
