Build Your Own on BMWUsa is active for the F10
I've been using the Int'l site as well as the UK build site, but it looks like the BYO function is updated for the F10 now. The 528, 528x, and 535x still has the E60, but the 535i and 550i are updated. Happy building!

Thanks. I see they didn't add the "expedited overnight shipping" option that I requested.
535i the way I like it - $65,875. 550i the way I like it - $71,525. Lease rates being equal, almost a no brainer to go 550i really.

Just played around with it and learned that the nicer looking of the two automatic shifters requires the Sport Package. Too bad.

Why - would you prefer the worse looking one to be not on the sport package? This approach is consistent with things like wheels. If you want the generally more appealing stuff, BMW wants your $$$.

Yes! I just saw this now too and I jumped back here to see if anyone had posted about it but you beat me to it.
I've been using the UK and German configs for a while now and I'm glad the US one came out. Great to know the price with our currency and language helps too

But my point is that the nicer/sportier one is actually an OPTION and when you select that option, the whole Sports PACKAGE will be added automatically. Now I don't want no Sports Package, but I do want the shifter in question. In other words, why are they making it a stand-alone option at all, where as a matter of fact it isn't, because when you click it, the sports package is added. That's stupid and if it's really a must to order the Sports Package along with it, they could have included in into the package in the first place. Makes no sense to me.

I played with it too and have to say all in all the price has gone up. I built a 535i with the exact options as my car (a 535 xi) and the MSRP came to be 59,500. The MSRP on my car was $61,000. I am looking forward to seeing an F10 in person.

Checked out the Build your own 550i. No full camera package just rear camera. Also, no anthracite headliner listed. What gives?

Under options, it shows a 6 speed sport automatic. Isn't the new 5 series coming with the new 8 speed??

Comes standard with 8 speed automatic, optional is 6 speed manual transmission.

I think a year form now you will be able to get what you want. It is frustrating that early adopters who tend to pay more have fewer choices but this appears to be the reality.
Other than interest rates which will probably go up in the next year, the price, availability, option combination choices and model choices will likely be better in Sept 2011 than in July 2010 |

Anthracite headliner has not generally been listed on past Build Your Own web pages at BMW USA on prior 5ers. It can be ordered. The price list now offers the full camera package. It appears that Build Your Own is not current.

"Comes standard with 8 speed automatic, optional is 6 speed manual transmission."
Understand but why then does The BMWUSA.COM configurator still show "sport automatic transmission with shift paddles - 6-speed sport automatic transmission with sport and manual shift modes"?? Must assume that the configurator is not accurate yet! |

Since mine is an xi - the new one is actually more. I think the xi option is like $2000.

The April 16 Wholesale Price List shows that it can now be ordered. Prior price lists showed September as start of production (SOP). You may wish to contact your CA.

The different shifter comes with SAT, not with ZSP. You can order ZSP without SAT. Hence it is optional. But if you order SAT, you must order ZSP. If you get a car with manual transmission, you could order ZSP. But SAT would be useless. So it makes sense to make SAT an option separate to ZSP since it can't be ordered on manual cars, and it does sound slightly logical not to slug manual drivers with the charge for SAT items when they don't get them. Plus BMW gets to charge us $500 for something that likely only costs them $50 or so. And if you wanted to pick a bone with BMW for that, you wouldn't hear any objection from me.

So they more or less "held the line" on MSRP, but have jacked up the option prices to obscene levels. Asking someone buying a $50K++ 535 to pay $400 for an I-pod/USB interface and $350 for a satellite radio is beyond ridiculous when many "lesser" cars (e.g. $23K Hyundai Sonata) offer them as standard.
