2000 Z3. SRS problem

I have a 2000 Z3. The SRS light is on. Ive had it reset and it comes back on. One shop told me the error code was for the drivers side seatbelt latch and the passenger side seat sensor. Another shop told me my car doesnt have a seat sensor. I could easily order and replace the drivers seat belt latch assembly. I do want to get this fixed. Id like to sell car. Its a 2000 Z3 2.5. Roadster. Any advice?

Has your carpet recently been soaked? That is what usually causes these problems.

For the seatbelt latch code, usually disconnecting the connector under the seat, cleaning it with electrical contact cleaner or deoxIT, and reconnecting it will correct the problem. It might be easiest to remove the seat for this so you can inspect for other problems.

I have to disagree with the second shop: I have seen an occupancy sensor on the passenger seat. Again, cleaning the connector could solve the problem.

Of course the problems can be deeper than this, but it often is not. You may need to replace some parts.

SRS Light

I have a 2000 Z3 and had an intermittent SRS Light. I bought a Peake code reader. Code was passenger seat belt latch. Before buying anything, I removed the seat and cleaned all connectors following what Blacklane and others have recommended in posts. Its been over three months and the code has not returned.
