My dealer said the "gift" was $1K towards the purchase of any BMW prior to 30 SEPT except the F10. Sounds a little stupid on the part of BMW NA planning or is this a tricky German plot He also said that the BMW CCA Rewards program will not include the F10 initially (Ihave asked the question direct to CCA but have not received an answer yet). I read on the UDE invite all BMW's and the CCA says all 5 series. Has anyone heard of yet another story?

My dealer said I could use this "gift" when I pickup my new pre-ordered 535i on June 26th. I'll let you now for certain when i attend the UDE and take delivery of my car in three weeks.

As drharley already stated, the $1000 gift is towards the purchase of any new BMW except the f10. I confirmed this with the BMW rep (not the dealer) at the event. We joked how stupid this sounded, and the BMW rep reluctantly agreed.

It's not unusual for BMW to restrict the CCA rebate on new models. When the 1er came out it was not on the CCA rebate list for about a year.

Let us know what BMWCCA says, I heard this before with new models and it was always false. Let's hope it's false again

We are not dealing with purchasing a Ford Fiesta for $13K; we are talking and contemplating buying a vehicle on the north side of $60K! What can we do as Beemer Owners to kick someone's ass for treating us like moronsIf there are restrictions , the company and the club should clearly spell it out and not hide the facts. I know everyone is chomping at the bit to get a new fiver. But what would happen if we all say - "can't use the $1K from the Ultimate Driving Event and can't use the $1K for being a loyal BMW CCA member on the new Five; then you can hold onto the vehicles until you do. But the reality is we humans are not strong enough. Well I for one will hold to the no buy plan. Join me?

I just got my $1,000 "gift" emailed to me and it also says that it EXCLUDES the new 5 series. Let me know if anyone else has been able to use this on the F10 as I am supposed to pick mine up in the next few days. Thanks.

There have only been a few comments on initial impressions of the F10 after attending the various Ultimate Drive Events around the country.

Is the F10 what you thought it would be? It would be interesting to see/hear more feedback on the latest 5er - pre-delivery. Especially for those who were on the fence

MY CA just replied noting that "as strange it may be, the $1,000 gift coupon can NOT be used for an F10 purchase".

So this is a confirmed $1000 gift towards the purchase of a new BMW? What about a lease? And are people getting these emailed to them, or picking them up when they go to the event? I about to pull the trigger on a 135i in the next month or so, so this would be helpful info.

Below is exactly what was in my email from BMW:

"On behalf of BMW of North America, we would like to thank you for attending our BMW Ultimate Driving Event this summer. We hope you thoroughly enjoyed your experience at the event. As a special thank you for your participation, we would like to offer you an Ultimate “Drive-Off” allowance of $1,000 on a new BMW.

From June 1st until September 30th, this offer is available on the 2010 X3, 535i Gran Turismo, 550i Gran Turismo, 550i xDrive Gran Turismo, all 6 Series models and all model year 2011 vehicles with the exception of the all-new 5 Series Sedan."

I attended the event last week and they emailed the "gift" yesterday. It shouldn't matter how you are financing (lease or purchase).

Thanks for the info. Our local event is scheduled for June 28th and I plan on placing the order for the 135i in July. Perfect timing!

Going to try it out on 19. July at Richmond BMW (Virginia). I'm sure that I won't really be too enthused about it but might as well see how it drives. It was nice to behold and sit in while I was in Germany.

Thanks for posting, Mike. I attended an event today, and the reps from BMW were also very clear that the $1k off can be used for any new BMW except the new 5 Series sedan. Does anyone know if the offer can be applied to a European Delivery? (I asked the reps and my CA, but no one knew the answer.)

That would be interesting to find out. And can it be combined with the CCA discount? I would imagine so (one is credit and the other is rebate), but you never know.

Apparently there is a bulletin about this. I asked my CA (b/c I was ordering a Euro delivery) and he mentioned there is a line in there that euro delivery cars were excluded which was disappointing because the email message you get does not say this (although it does say it is valid for "eligible" vehicles only). Also I think he saw something about the offer not being able to be combined with "CCA certificate program" so that might mean you cant combine with CCA rebate but I'm not sure. I lost interest after finding out euro was excluded.

I don't know about this particular situation, but I know that when I purchased my '07 (or was it the '05?) 750i back in the day, I was unable to use BMWFS "gift" money and still apply for a BMWCCA rebate at the same time. However, I've been able to get BMWCCA rebates on the same purchase where I cash in points on my BMW credit card without an issue.

Just got back from my Ultimate Driving Event. We drove a loop on the streets. Started off from the dealership, went to a highway on ramp, where you had a stop sign and a left hand bend, merged onto another highway going the same way, turned around at the next exit, and the final exit was a right hand sweeper on a choppy road to a stop sign. So, good off the line accelleration spot, good high speed merge, a couple of good braking spots, and, overall, a good test. All the cars are pretty, I didn't spend too much time on the amenities since I figured I could learn anything I needed to. Here are the cars, in the order I drove them:

MB350: Where did the torque go? Stopped at the entrance ramp, saw the all clear, stomped it, it got loud, but not fast. The car felt solid, went around bends OK, but again, at the merge, no high speed oomph. Braking and handling were pretty good, for the limited amount of handling done.

A6: More punch off the line than the MB, but loud and booming. Over all, more tossable than the MB, seemed some how, with the engine roar, a bit unrefined for a car of this class. Definitely drives better than the MB, but the MB seemed nicer inside and had a better looking Nav.

535: What can I say. Stomp it, it rockets, high speed merge, all the giddyup you want, love the new Nav, with ability to go full screen too. The runflats felt a bit hard, even though they were not the low profile ones.

550i with active suspension: Wow! Nail it, and it not only zooms and screams, it hits that left hand turn and stays flat as can be. Had to get off the gas much sooner than I thought. Love the HUD. High speed merge, wow, zipped around a couple of trucks like they were standing still, stomped the brake and got off the exit without a problem, Just fantastic.

I never really thought of myself as a fanboi, but, driving these cars, there is no way that the MB offers half the driving experience, and the Audi, while pretty good, just didn't seem refined enough to compete.

I hear MB has a twin turbo V8 in the works. Personally, I will give the new e63 credit because I hear its a beast as well. I'm just not a fan of the staid styling. Audi, they have come along way, the RS6 Avant is incredible, there are various videos of that car taking on all comers and bascially smoking them all. The R8 is still fetching over 100k "used".
