6 Series
The BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Both me & my 6, HOT around the collar....

Had a BMW dealership take a look @ my adaptive headlights on Tuesday morning, while looking around they noticed a leaking valve cover gasket. It's under warranty so i said go ahead, pull the trigger. Picked up my car today, (FRIDAY). In a hurry, the ONE TIME i dont look under the hood, here is what i missed. (see pic)
As i'm turning down my street, some 30 miles later, i get an "engine too hot" message on my I-Drive display. Temp is about 250 degrees on the dash, guess i didnt notice the dash temp so much because it was 92 degrees today. Also got a "coolant too low" message.
A picture is worth a 1000 words, and all of them are bad!!!

Hey... Be thankful it happened by your house...
Besides the repair, Id make them do a complete flush and fill along with a detail for there screw up and your inconvenience...
If they give you a hard time threaten them with a bad review when your maintenance survey comes....
My SA is so paranoid about bad reviews he bribes me with a detail every time I come in for work.
Funny thing about it, they always do good work anyway....

hey Coug6, you're right about that bad maint. review---LOL
my SA is also so worried he won't get all 5's he'll already have it detailed without me even asking!
have gotten floor mats and a trunk mat out of him because of his fear of a bad report.....

That really sucks!!! My habit is to always pop open the hood and check everything (as much as I can) before I drive off from the dealer.. I am real anal about stuff like this. For oil changes, I have a piece of foam called "The Mat" which use to on the ground check the car for oil leaks, etc.

If this had happenned to me, that dealer would have had an earful from me... I am relentless.. Good luck and I hope they repair it.. You should ask for something in return like (lost productivity, psychological damage, etc.)

i have requested a new accessories drive belt, alternator to be tested, (coolant looks to have leaked into it), engine to be detailed, coolant system flush, next oil service free!

and for my pain and suffering: the new 2010 navigation DVD

TimDogg, looks like your SA will take care of you, so no worries. It was a major screw up on their part. I was thinking of getting the new DVD. I am going to see what my SA can do when I picked up my car later on. They are replacing my under hood insulation because the darn thing shrunk and cannot fit properly.
