98 740i - Electrical issue

Over the past few weeks, various electrical issue have begun to crop up. My back up lights would not work. My inside blinker signals would not work. The LED display on the front dash and then the radio went blank. My radio would stop when it felt like it and then come back on. My car would not start on the first try but if you sat there for a minute with the key on and then shut if off and then on, it would start. The horn would work some times and not work others. Last night it finally started to get bad. It took me almost 5-10 minutes to get it started each time. The last time when it started, the radio would not work, the windows would not work. I have it now parked in my garage and somewhat leary to take it out again. Any thoughts on what this is. When you go to start it and it does not want to start, you can hear a faint electrical noise like a wire is loose. Any thoughts would be appreciate.

Likely needs new battery and registration of new battery to get charging system in sync with such. It could also likely be the ignition switch. If the battery is new and it's not the ignition switch then there is likely a charging system problem, alternator or power management control unit. I'd say the ignition switch and/or battery is a good 1st shot.

wouldnt be a bad idea to check the cranking amps of your battery. i know that messes with these computers. it quite rediculous how it affects the car.

Sometimes a faulty ignition switch can give such vague symptoms.
