When I have my AC running and I come to a full stop, nothing but hot airs comes out of the vents. When i resume driving, cold air comes out again. I thought i had read some where that this was a feature for the winter that takes the hot air from the engine and blast it onto the windshield. How do i change this setting? '98 740il

You probably have a bad aux fan or resistor. The fan between the radiator and the front kidneys.

i was going to say the same thing. check to make sure that the condensor fan is running when the ac compressor is running. otherwise, there is nothing there to cool the condensor while the car is at a stop. i'd bet thats it though.
