Lake Casitas might be a good spot. Close to Good driving and lot's of space for parking and picnicing etc.

I will give them a call and see how they handle large events - if picnic areas have to be reserved or anything.

yeah! even if only 10 people show it's 15 bucks!

it's unclear if you have pay to park there - to my knowledge you do not have to I think the fee listed on their website is strictly for per vehicle overnight camping pass type thing. We will see what they say when they write back to me, if they respond

$15 per car - last time we was there.
If this is Sat-Sun & Holidays Easter W/e thru Labor Day ( read every Sat and Sun during summer) - $15
Last time when we was there - we just pay $15/p car, drive true park until we found empty table ( was 4 cars with 17 ppl) - no need reservation. But after 10 am - all empty tables (in the shades) with BBQ grill near by was taken.
