Just picked up my 35d last night and no luggage shade?!?! My CA told me about it about 2 weeks after I placed the order so it was no surprise to me. Where are we reading that only the gas version was supposed to see the delete of this item? That's the only way I would have leverage against bmwna...

They proly took yours out and gave it to someone who bitched to them, like me. As verified in previous posts, only the 35i doesn't get it.

Probably exactly what happened.

I verified that the luggage shade is in fact in my manual - I don't recall which page, but it has no indication that it is an option, and it gives instructions for using, as well as removing and installing it.. just FYI.

Yes, call your CA and demand the shade as the 35d comes with it. That's a $500.00 item they just snatched from you, a move like that would end my relationship with the CA and dealer. What is this 1980 car salesman stuff, BMW dealers need to get with it.

I've contacted bmwna... Will send an email to the CA shortly. I wish someone would post some literature on this showing it was deleted from the gas versions only. What's been stated in previous posts is probably not good enough.

We did PCD and when Donnie delivered the X5 to my wife and I, he specifically stated that the 35d and 50i both came with the roller shades, but that it was odd that the 35i did not..

and they work right next door to the factory

Call your CA, then threaten to ask to talk to the dealership manager. Pretty sure CA's have performance reviews that impact their compensation...wave that stick in their face too.

Yes but bulletin's aren't a secret. For example you can go to http://www.bmwtis.com/ to get bulletins for a fee.

BMW TIS is for service bulletin's. These bulletin's would come through dealerspeed.net, which is a confidential dealer only website.

True but there are always ways to get bulletins and the honest CA's don't hide general bulletins - at least not the one's I've dealt with.

My dealer is saying none of the X5's get them now. Not sure how true.

My CA responded to my email stating that they are only seeing the v8 and M models come in with the shades... He says the exception was the very first month of production. May be true for them, but doesn't make a whole lot of sense that others are still getting them? I've asked him to look at the service bulletin and see what it says.

"I'm seeing it on" is a statement that is designed to seem like it is giving you an answer, but has zero accountability.

WHAT IS THE BMW POLICY is the ONLY question/answer that matters- he knows it and is just shining you on....

Its what 'good' CAs do... neutralize and deflect

He's only "seeing" them on the V8 and M models because they must be taking them out of the 35d and either selling them to the 35i/35d buyers or perhaps giving it away to save a sale.

If a person has nothing to hide then he should should show you the bulletin which states that it only comes in the V8 and M models.

Remember, ONLY the manufacturer has the right to change vehicle specifications. Dealerships can't pull items out of a vehicle at will without authority to do so by BMW. Well, perhaps they can but the legal system has a cause of action for that - FRAUD!

I would have refused delivery - plain and simple. I would definitely want something in writing explaining that part of the car was not being delivered, and WHY.

It is total BS from the dealer. Ask for BMW NA and Germany customer service address. My BMW X5 35D was a week 17 production. It came with the boot roller cover. This clearly is a rip off by the dealer. Get it in writing from the dealer that the factory did not provide the cover and forward the letter to BMW. I would not have accepted the SUV with out it. My vehicle was delayed at the Port due to the seat module issue for over 4 weeks. in good faith The dealer gave me over 1000 dollars to purchase service or accessories for my X5.

If they are right, then they are a cutting-edge dealership with access to otherwise unknown information, and we would all benefit from knowing a dealer like this. If they are lying to you then you are doing a service for others to protect them from these cheats. Not a chance util I get resolution first... BMWNA should be able to tell me if my car was shipped with the shade.
