Seems rather cheap of BMW, even my VW Touareg has it included by default

35i doesn't, 35d and 50i should come with it.

Further confirmation (as if it were still needed at this point): picked up my 35i Premium via PCD a week ago, and it did NOT come with it.

35i DOES come with it, if you are willing to open up your mouth.

Either it does come standard or it does not.

If "open up your mouth" means to "haggle" in order to get it "free", then it does not come standard.

Agree with all - I just insisted that it come with the car. Period. (and suddenly it wasn't a problem)

Now I'm working on the misleading trailer hitch and the inability to tow (which was the reason I traded cars).

What's happening to this brand?

Arrived with luggage cover

Picked-up my 3.5d last Friday 13th. It came with the luggage cover. Great vehicle.

This is becoming ridiculous, isn't it?

To recap, the cargo cover is not standard on the 35i (all trim levels). It is standard on the 35D and 50i.

If you want it, it will cost you $300 or so, new.

If you want to haggle, it is possible your dealer can scrounge one up. Mine had 5 used ones in just my color. I don't know where he got them from. He offered me one. I opted to order a new one.

Ordered my X5 35d on July 17th. During the process, my sales guy did tell me BMW informed them that the cargo roller cover would no longer be included. However, when my vehicle arrived this month, the cover WAS installed in the vehicle. What color interior did you order? Mine was Nevada Sand, and the cover was a light beige. Maybe BMW is including the covers until their stock is depleted and the light beige color was still available?

Read post a couple up - included on 35d, your sales guy got confused with the 35i

To all of you who will be picking up your X5s in the near future, make sure you check for this and demand it be included since one poster is saying they are removing them and are selling them for an extra $600.
When I picked up my car I immediately noticed the missing cargo cover.
It is only last night when I opened the sealed manual that I found the addendum page you are referring to, and I realized no aluminum running boards on my car either.

Both were included in the car I test drove, and I expected both to be included in the ordered vehicle.

The BMW USA 2011 X5 SA pictures site still lists the running boards, but the build your own vehicle site does not:
http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...iagallery.aspx
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...N70S+ctReasVQ=

I should have paid better attention, and I wish I'd read this thread before I took delivery.

Huh? Running boards have always been an option.

I was under the impression that they were standard on the Sport Activity.
I just checked the build your own vehicle, and yes, they are (now) an additional option, I wrongly "assumed" they were standard.
I also notice that when you add the sport package, the running boards are removed.

Just picked up my 35i sports activity and it wasn't included. What a real cheap arse way of saving a few dollars on BMW's behalf

The running boards are only removed with the Msport package. You can get them with the regular sport package.

Its already been confirmed that both the diesel and 50i have the cover included. Only the 35i does NOT, regardless of the trim. I guess 35i owners are chopped liver?
