So I am guessing that the motorized latch mechanisim is not operating? Have you checked fuses/relays/etc? Got to figure, its either that or you have a trunk motor that has gone bad. Hope you get it figured out soon.

Sounds like the release mechanism has gone bad. I would try disconnecting it (I have no idea how, but I would assume there is a mechanism/motor in the trunk lid) and see if you can just operate the trunk manually. At least then you can drive the car.

This can happen if you have comfort access and one of the key is located in the trunk.

It happened to my wife ,
and I got the blame because I had bought this advanced car

Yep, same here....the wife threw her purse in the trunk with her fob in it. Couldn't figure out why the trunk kept popping open when she closed it. I drove to a parking spot with the damned trunk open before it dawned on me what was going on.
