Red face Tire Size Change.

Interested if anyone has tried altering the tire size somewhat - specifically the sidewall height - going from a 235/55R17 to a 235/60R17? The difference in sidewall height is about 0.5", and is inline with most other manufacturers of similar vehicles. Wife complains about the ride, wondering if that would help. Thanks.

Don't do that! That profile change will result in over 3% difference in wheel diameter which is well outside recommenations, and will affect speedo readings, etc. If you have issues with the ride, you have a few options to consider:

- 225/60 R17 tires would result in a slightly taller sidewall, but be within 3%
- change tire manufacturer/compounds. For example, several people have switched from the Bridgestones to Pirellis or Michelins and reported a better ride. Depending on where you live, opt for a softer performance tire -- you will get less mileage out of the tires, but they are softer (and stickier)
- consider suspension adjustments/replacements

A little more info about your specific year/options would help. Earlier models (pre-2006) were known to have tighter/harsher suspensions, and this was accentuated with the sport pack. Later years received suspension adjustments/different components.
