iDrive frozen!!!

Hello All

I know I've seen threads on this issue before as I once read on Bimmerfest what to do if the iDrive freezes. For some reason, I can't find now.

My problem is; the iDrive is frozen on the home screen. Tried turning car off and back on but, no change. Of course this happens the Friday before July 4th weekend!!!

Anyone have any advise?

Thanks all

I would disconnect the battery, that should reset most of the electronics.

You don't need to anything...just drive the car; it will reset itself.

Gonna try that tomorrow if it's still frozen in the morning.

For my 2008 M5, reboot by simultaneously pressing the sound system power on button (i.e., the volume knob) and both CD and DVD eject buttons.

If this doestn't work, trip to the dealer may help (assuming that it's still under warranty)

Agree, I use to do this on my 335i, but the X5 maybe different. My X5 only has one eject button. So maybe you should call the dealer to find out the reboot sequence or just look it up.

Use to happen all the time on my old E92, they said it was my phone that caused it (B.S.).
After a software update to fix the seatbelt arm, the issue went away.

You were right. Pressing all three seemed to do the trick (for now at least). Still going to bring it in for service this week.

Thanks

You will more than likely need a new CCC (nav computer) there are a few problems with your model year freezing, had mine replaced 3 months ago for the same thing.
