Picked up my 50i M Sport (Pics)

Picked it up over the weekend. Its Awesome !! Have not really stomped on it yet, waiting for the 1200 Mile break in. It sat at the dealer for a couple of weeks while I waited for the July Lease Rates which I had heard were going to drop. I had locked in Q1 Rates in April but July was better !! I received my Ultimate Drive Rebate just in time !! Going for Clear Bra for the Rear Fenders today. Sorry for the Poor Quality Pics, will post nicer pics later.

+1.

My cars never have a front plate. Ever.

On another note, I'm diggin' those individual roof rails - I wish they were an option for the X5d..

I know, believe me I really did not want the front plate, they drilled it only after I gave them permission. But here in Los Angeles they will ticket you if its parked on the street with no front plate. Some cities around here like Santa Monica will pull you over because of it. Also if you drop someone off at LAX they will pull you over and ticket you with no front plate. Its just not worth it anymore. Too much hassle.

I bought my last BMW from the same dealership (Pacific BMW) and specifically asked them not to drill the holes in the bumper. I live in OC and I guess things are a bit more lax here (no pun intended). It's been 3 years so far and no ticket for missing front plate (knock on wood).

I live in Belgium, and I've heard that it's not law to have a front plate, but everyone does!
some have little tiny front plates, but on my last 3 Series I really didn't like the big "M" plate holder, even though it was painted to match.

I used a stick on plate, and covered that with clear bra for easy cleaning.
(I bet it was a bitch take off when I sold it)

On the X5 it seems to look right to have a plate

where do u order the clear bra for the rear side skirts? i heard that those areas get nasty sand/rock chips because the rear fenders stick out so much on the M sport.

Thanks

I live in Austin -- I didn't have the dealer put my front plate on my '11 35d. I didn't have a plate on my previous X5 for 7 years and never received a ticket; the three cops who gave me speeding tickets, the one who gave me a warning for something I can't remember, and the one who gave me a ticket for an expired inspection (ya!) all didn't seem to care (the last two were both within the last 12 mo). The inspection-er flagged me from standing in the turn lane of a school zone, from the front, at about 10mph -- couldn't have missed the non-plate on the ginormous blue car! Especially since she had to go to the back to get the plate # when she couldn't find it on the front.

Although, we went to lunch with my office mate's fiance a few weeks ago and one of his friends said he had gotten a ticket for 'no plate' (and that's all). Who knows, perhaps he was 'driving stupid' and that's all they could pin on him at the time.
