How much km/L is your car

My friend bought a 1988 e28 520 automatic and his car mileage per L is around 8.94km/L, 95% are highway. Is it normal? How much is yours? Any recommendation for improving fuel consumption?

It sounds like he's getting pretty good gas mileage. Alot better than I get, although nearly all of my driving is stop and go in the city.
