I looked at the newly posted 2011 Brochure on bmwusa.com and they listed it as features on the 2011 X5 and looks really sweet. It didn't reference anything about only being avail starting in September Builds.

What day of the month is September 31st? I can't seem to find it on my calendar.

Where? I didn't see any specific info about these upgrades in the brochure.

You're right, nice catch. This makes me feel a bit better - looks like LED Coronas are *not* coming with this mini-refresh, since this brochure seems to be current. I don't care much about the enhanced iPod features, just was worried they'd refresh other things as well and stiff all those of us taking delivery in July/Aug.

New BMWUSA brochure for 2011 X5 mentions 'new LED Daytime running lights'

If you believe page 8 of the brochure (and why would you not)...it lists LED coronas for the 2011 X5. Since i know my 2011 X5 does not have them, i would strongly assume it is part of the Sept changover...totally sucks

Page 8 says LED rings, but page 44 just lists "Corona headlight-rings". On the Euro-spec PDF, it specifically says, "LED light rings", and the 5-series brochure says, "LED Corona headlight-rings".

It could be a mistake in one of the sections, obviously... which one? Is there a way to get BMW to confirm one way or another? It's not like this brochure is leaked, it's official from BMW NA.

FYI - don't bother calling BMW NA at the regular 1-800 number, the guy couldn't even pull up the brochure, and all he could really find was that it "comes with Xenon headlights", lol.

hahhaha

the competence of the BMW 800 call center is legendary. Quite frankly i would not be surprised if they also covered for other brands or types of products. Hello welcome to BMW/Toyota/Burger King customer service, how may I help you with your car/ burger order today.

It is sad when the people you call who are supposed to represent the face of the brand literally know nothing and cannot answer basic questions.

Certainly not surprised by what was posted above.

OK, how about an old fashioned trade, someone come over my house and install some 'high quality asian' *snicker snicker* H8 LED-like bulbs and I'll give you my brand new rear shade which is useless to me becuase i have the optional third row and becuase of that feature, the shade cannot be stored in the car!

Not to harp on this subject anymore, but can anyone that took delivery of a vehicle that was built in July AFTER the factory shut down can confirm that any of these new features are/not available in your car? I was thinking the brochure that was just published on BMW NA 's website claims to have the new blue-tooth/Ipod features and the bulletin was for September Builds in which the 1,3,5 & 7 Series are built in Germany in where they have an August factory shutdown. I was thinking maybe, just maybe the bulletin was communicated because of the August factory shutdown where they perform maintenance and calibration of their machines to include the new build. Thus, maybe since the USA factory shutdown the first week of July for maintenance(assuming) that they are including the new features for vehicles that are being build after the factory shutdown? Any thoughts and confirmations from the new owners out there since under the X5 & X6 product changes says "Effective Immediately"?

Wish you were right, but I don't believe I would be that lucky. My car finished production this week.

I placed an order yesterday for 2011 X5 xdrive35d. The dealer told me that there is a delay for the diesel X5s and it should take 6-8 weeks before the car will be ready for pickup in September.
I am wondering if the car will be ready for pickup in September would it be a September production or it will be production of the month when the order was placed?
I hope I will get the new features and hopefully the LED angel eyes (if they are included in the update at all)

If I were you, I'd insist on getting a September production date. It sounds like you're getting an August production with delivery in September. Since you're so close to the update, worth waiting an extra week or two.

Since I'm getting a July production, I'm hoping like hell that they don't upgrade to LED angel eyes in Sept. As long as we're all yellow together!!

Do you think is possible to get the updates even if the car has an August production date? I don't care much about the ipod and bluetooth update but mostly for possible LED angel eyes

Has anyone taken delivery of a July Production (after shutdown) and can confirm that the new bluetooth/ipod features are or not included?

Dealer Responsibilities

My car is being delivered later this week...I am wondering if it will have 0 miles when I drive it away??

Does the dealer HAVE to drive it to ensure everything is perfect?? I have heard stories of dealerships letting delivered cars be test driven, sat in, revved up, etc...How can I ENSURE this doesn't happen to my new X5? I mean this is $55k+ piece of machinery - not some Honda Civic!!

Ask them. Typically the delivery process has them driven for maybe a mile or two, and the dealer has to fill it with gas as well. And ask them for it not to be test driven at all - both my local dealers won't allow a ordered car to be test driven. People can sit in them, that's it.

Just got the word from my CA that my build is finally ready to be placed for September production with the new features.

Now let the waiting game begin... Again.

I did some research on the new updates and they are pretty worthless to be honest.

CONS:
1) no LED corona updates
2) Text/e-mail only read to you!! Why can't it have a voice control and write what I say back??????? Who cares about reading a text when I need to send one 2 minutes later.
3) ??????

seems like a lot of fuss over nothing.
