A minor version?
Possibly. I am honestly not too sure. I don't think that DPC uses the braking system though. "The DPC differential features clutch packs on both output sides that are actuated by an electric motor" (Wiki) ... so DPC is an entire additional mechanical differential. It seems like the system in the F25 X3 uses some electronics and the xDrive AWD to try to achieve a similar result.

Looks like they are going to use the same engine as the F10 528 in the X28.

I actually very much like the new X3. I'll be curious to see one in person though!

Pricing for the 2011 X3 won't be released until right before they go on sale. That being said BMW needs to have a winner on its hands with the new X3 and will probably price it accordingly. I would expect a similarly spec'ed F25 to be the same if not a hair cheaper than the outgoing E83. As soon as pricing is available or we have any rumors they'll be posted up and we can see if I'm right or not

That interior is so nice... Does this put the X3 ahead of the Q5 and GLK? I think it's very posisble. I don't think it's going to be any cheaper. I'd bet 1-2k more expensive.

I've attached the options and pricing for the German market. Prices include 19% MwSt.

I really like the looks the F25!

I would think the pricing would be comparable to the E83, look at the pricing on the 2011 X5 it actually dropped.

A price drop would be nice but how will the X1 effect the pricing of the X3?

Headrests

I have also noticed that the telescopic headrests are absent. In the 2007 they had conventional headrests like this model. In my next 2008 x3 they had the telescopic. Wonder why they changed back?

I saw one in person yesterday outside Greenville. Talk about picking the right time to visit my friend down there! It had manufacturer plates and was Vermillion Red.........can't say that's the best colour for it. I'm still not a fan of the design.

This is exciting news! The preliminary reports by the car mags. come to the same conclusion: the new X3 is a tremendous improvement over the out going model both in interior quality and improved suspension. It seems to be as large as the original X5. I'm giddy over the fact that it will be offered as an N55 single turbo "35i" version with 0-60 mph of around 5.5 seconds. An 8 speed ZF AT seals the deal.

This X3 sounds like the real thing and a new class leader.

I wouldn't do the South Carolina quick turn around custom ordering because I would be paying top dollar at MSRP. I would rather go through my dealer and have some room to negotiate.

A good dealer will offer you similar pricing whether you order it or buy it off the lot. Plus, dealers always seem to order options and packages that aren't relevant to me. However it may be different for you.

My interpretation of this "custom ordering" concept is that it will end up being similar to the existing priority 1 options. The difference, of course, being that BMWUSA will try to accept an order and produce/deliver the vehicle much more quickly than with orders to a factory in Germany.

Like AzN, I doubt there will be much impact on the negotiating process.

That's not what I mean. I'm talking about the special custom ordering promotion with quick one week turn around direct from the factory.

I hope there's room for negotiation, but as with all hot new models, the negotiating window will be slim.

Seems like one of the rare times BMW actually listened and from what I've read, has fixed the glaring faults found in the current X3.

The old X3 is loosely based on the previous 3 series. How about the new X3? Based on the old X3, X5, or new 3 series?

Speaking in reverse, I so hope that the new 8 speed ZF Steptronic in the X3 finds its way into the redesigned 328i in a couple of years. I hate the sleepy 6 speed GM Steptronic.

I don't believe so -- I think it is based on the next-gen 3er -- the F20.

That said, I'm sure there are many components shared with or quite like the E90.
