Weird noise when driving at high speeds ? > 50mph

Hi, coming from a lexus so im just getting used to the whole bmw scene but ever since i drove it off the lot ive noticed that at high speeds the car makes a distinctive noise, it might be coming from the wheels, but im not too sure. Its a 328i sedan 07 , are they supposed to be quiet or do they make some kind of noise when driving above 50 mph? I wish i can be more elaborate but cant think of anyting that sounds like it.

Definitely it's not Lexus quiet if that's what you're used to. My 07 328i probably has the same noise you're talking about. I don't know how to describe it either. Just constant low noise. It's prob just the RFT tires. The other day, I actually had a tech from the dealer test drive with me and he said it's just the RFT tire noise. It took me some time to get used to it. We'll see how much better it gets when I put new tires on as mine a pretty worn out.

It definitely could be from the tires. When I took my '08 e90 to the dealership for service, my CA noticed that my RFTs were cupping (when I run my finger around the outside edge of the tire thread, the wear is not uniform.) You might want to check the tires for abnormal wear.

I have no such noise. My 2007 328i rides smooth and quiet at high speeds. I would have to say that's not normal.

This is my fourth BMW and all of them have been smooth and quiet at high speeds.

The E90 sedan is the last in the line of great 4 door 3 Series BMW's. Too bad.

Do you have RFTs on or non RFTs?

At least for my car, the tires are pretty worn out (unevenly). It's not like a loud noise that bothers you, but rather a low constant "pulsating" sound that could very well be from the tires. I had the same problem in my Accord. After I got new Michelin tires on it, the sound went away. When it's time to replace the tires, I will and hopefully that will fix it. Then that the other question I have to deal with, RFT or non RFT

I have the Bridgestone Potenza 17s with sport package. I would call my SA and describe the noise to him.

Any harshness I have, I blame on the SP suspension. I used to have two 325i's before BMW did run flats and going over speed bumps and rail road tracks used to realign my vertebrae.

On the tire sidewall, you will see the letters RSC surrounded by a circle. If your 328i is a CPO, the dealer should have mounted run-flats as they are original equipment for your car.

My 328 is no noisier than my GS350 at similar speeds. I can hear both and attribute it to the tires - and I don't have runflats on the Lexus.
