Wheel/Tire combo options?
Looking to order new 2011 X5, but trying to decide between 35i Sport and 50i w/ sport pkg. Love the sound and extra power of the 50i but not crazy about the tire/wheel choices (I believe either 335 or 336 are the choices?) and was looking for some help/guidance on options. My favorite wheels are the 214s (that come on the 35i sport) with the bigger 315 width rear tires. On the online X5 brochure, it says the 335 wheels come with 19" 255s front/285s rear....this would be okay, but here in the forum others have said the 335s come with 255 width on all 4 corners? I saw one at the dealer and this was case also. Seems like small/narrow tires for a 50i w/ sport. Just don't like the look of the 20" 336 wheels (just my tastes). Is there any way to order 50i sport with the 214s? Or, get the 335s with the wider 285 rears? I don't know if this changes anything, but I'm planning on leasing this time around. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ask the dealer if he would swap wheels with another vehicle, or order the diesel with sport package and 20" wheels....you will get the 214's.
Another choice is to sell the 19's as many northerners can use them with snow tires or as winter package, and still others with 18" wheels may want to upgrade. I just bought a set of 19" 335 take offs from the dealer for $2K....(wheels/tires/tpms/centercaps)...to use in the winter as the 20's come with summer tires....I believe its a sqare set up with my 19's but to be honest they packed it so well I was not going to fully open to Thanks Giving (i just examined faces of wheel at this point). |
