Ordered 535i...question about my configuration

Alpine White
Cinnamon Leather
Anthracite headliner
Sport Pkg
Prem pkg 1 and 2
Convenience pkg
Driver asst pkg
side and topview camera
light wood trim
sport auto transmission with paddles
Smart phone integration
This is my first time to order a BMW. Should anything be added? Thanks. I'm a first time poster. Been a lurker for awhile..

When I ordered mine I got 3 things. + a 6MT but that cost nothing.
Premium Package
Sport Package
Rear Window Shades
Everything else is gravy. Subjective to everybody's wants/perceived needs likes/dislikes. Bottom line get what floats YOUR boat. Keep in mind that the more you add the more that can go wrong, need to be updated, or become outdated big time, but for sure get it your way.

If the Sport Transmission requires the Dynamic Handling Package (which,IIRC,it does) then you've got a pretty well equipped vehicle there. If I order (which seems likely) I'd opt for the heads up display too but that's certainly not essential.

You seem to have configured your car mostly up for luxury, seeing the two Premium packages and all the technology options selected. I would have not taken the Convenience Package and gotten just the split folding rear seats for that touch of practicality. Depending on your driving needs, the Dynamic Handling package is nice but expensive so if you don't plan to drive backroads or carve up roads, you can leave that out.

This is a great board. I did configure it mostly for luxury. It will be my family car. My wife drives a 325i sportwagon. Some of my friend don't like the new 5 but I loved it from the first time I saw it. I really appreciate the replies.

The cinnamon with the light wood is horrendous, If you haven't seen it you better change it. I saw it in person. It also is one of the few color combinations that BMW doesn't recommend on their color combo chart.

Exact same seats. The only way to tell is the release handles in the trunk.

I have to agree with the Cinnamon with light wood is a bit garish. Try black high-gloss (is this available in the US?), aluminium, or anthracite wood trim.

Looks good. I think smart phone integration is not very useful. If cost is not a factor I would seriously consider dynamic handling.

Actually they are more comfortable. You sit back in them and down just a little more which gives better thigh support.

Thanks dunnccfp. I just sent the email and changed it. I only ordered 3 days ago. I wasn't sure. I liked the light wood in another car but I haven't seen it in person. Just in the simulator. Thanks alot.

I would think seriously about adaptive cruise control. It works amazingly well.

When my 535i was ordered it was built on 9/7/07 and I picked it up here in Newport Beach, Ca. (West Coast) 0n 10/13/07. Dealer had it the 12th.

Light wood and Cinnamon Leather would be horrible. The Cinnamon Leather has a substantial amount of red in it. It looks best with Fineline Anthracite.

The wait for the boat is 2-7 days. 12 Days on the boat (w/o bad weather) and to Pa probably 4-10 days. When it gets on the boat your dealer can give you an arrival date. Make sure they code it #1 then it will come to the dealer faster when it gets to the port.

I drove my 11 550i in Europe for 2 1/2 weeks after doing BMW European Delivery. My flight leaves Bremen tomorrow AM for Frankfurt and on to Chicago. My car was fully optioned so I will weigh in on the options.

Adaptive Cruise Control is spectacular. It works amazingly well. I used it at 100 mph on the Autobahn to try it out and it worked quite well. I was really impressed by how well it reacted.
Convenience Package is probably not worth it. Comfort Access as a stand alone option is.
Driver Assistance Package is very marginally worthwhile. This probably does not make sense for most people although I like the lane departure warning system a lot. The Parking Assistant is very cool and worked surprisingly well when I tried it in Dresden.
Sport Automatic Transmission. I had this on my current F10 and my 08 550. I rarely used the paddle shifters. SAT IMO makes sense when paired up with the M-Sport Package and the Dynamic Handling Package.
Dynamic Handling Package is fine but inferior to the M-Sport Suspension on my E60. The Comfort Setting is a waste of neurons on a BMW.
Integral Active Steering. Unless one is getting a fully optioned car this is not worth it.
HUD on a fully optioned car is spectacular.
Split Folding Rear Seats adds tremendous utility to the 5er. I had it on my last 3 5ers. I like it a lot and the seats are still very comfortable. I had a car load of people in my F10 with split folding rear seats traveling 120 miles to visit relatives in Germany. My wife rode in the rear seat to accommodate my tall cousin. She said the the split folding seats were extremely comfortable and could not not tell that they were folding seats.
Side and Top View Cameras make sense on a fully optioned car. The rear view camera in the Premium Package 2 works really well.
Premium Package 2 is well worth while IMO.

My new 2011 550i is a fine car and I am quite happy in general. The cabin is absolutely amazing. The steering is slightly soft for my taste. I would have preferred the M-Sport Suspension like I have on 2008 550 for a firmer, more athletic ride. It is a beautiful, well designed car closer to the 7 than the previous 5er.

THANKS for the information. I will request the #1 code. I assume they code it when it is shown on the boat.

Does adaptive cruise control include a pre-collision warning system - i.e. does it work when not in cruise control, but you are about the rear end some one?

Thanks!
