What can I keep on lease turnin for my ED 335i?

My 2007 335i was a ED. Which of the following can I keep at lease turn in:

1. Warning triangle
2. First aid kit
3. Flashlight
4. Floor mats

Did I miss anything?

You can keep all of that. Maybe not the flashlight...but I doubt they'd notice that.

Definitely 1 and 2, 3 and 4 doubt they will miss!

why would you want to keep the flashlight?? they have done away with them (havent they??) in the newer vehs so it will die on you and then just be a paperweight.

Isn't the plug still in the glove box even though they no longer provide the flashlight?

Why not # 4( floor mats)? In 2007 I think the US delivery cars did not come with floor mats, but EDs did. Does anyone know for sure if I can keep the floor mats?

He was saying it is unlikely they will notice that the floor mats are not there, so you should be ok to keep them. I agree.

It's a lease...you don't own any of the addons to the car..obviously you have the option to utilize the first aid kit. It's stealing from the next guy.

I don't think that is true. The triangle and first aid kid he has only because he took Euro Delivery and worked something out so that they were not removed at the port (probably taking them in his luggage).

The mats he could have easily bought on his own and may not have come with the leased vehicle.

He isn't stealing anything from anybody. All that crap belongs to him.

And, ultimately, it would be BMWs responsibility when they CPO the car to make sure everything is there in operational condition.

Its would be like you removing the battery on your Android phone before you trade it in on an Iphone (as you will inevitably do). The battery belongs to you so that is your right.

How about wheel locks? They do not come from the factory and are dealer add ons I believe.

I think you are corect. All of these items are added to ED vehicles and if I did not return home with them in my luggage they would have been taken out at the port preparation center...

If you paid extra for the wheel locks outside of your lease, then you own them and don't need to return them Of course, you'd need to replace the stock nut on each wheel.

By the same token, I did the rear fog light mod by buying the Euro dash switch. That is coming our now and I will replace it with the stock switch before turn in.

For sure you can keep them. I don't think they are included even now on US cars. And the ED mats are not the same as you would get here anyway. Keep those things you mentioned if you want, they are ED perks (with the exception of the flashlight).

How tight are you people? Do you collect ketchup packets from fast food restaurants?

I can understand triangle and the first aid kit, but flashlight and floor mats? Unless you're planning on reselling them on ebay I see no point of taking those items.

You can take anything the dealer added to the car. Do you think they were given to you for free? Items like the mats and wheel locks are provided by dealers as a "customer convenience" but don't think for a second you didn't pay for those items out of the various out the door fees we all pay on delivery. Keep it if you want it - you paid for it.

Er, as I recall he asked us if he "could keep" stuff. We're just clarifying what he owns and what he is required to return. how that makes anybody tight enough to collect ketchup packets (although when I corner the ketchup market, don't come crying to me! ) is beyond me....

I don't know. I had this odd experience with a TSX I traded in. I took at all the extras I had added even thought they seemed useless - all season mats, a trunk mat, and one or two other goodies. A few weeks later I met a women who owned a TSX and she was glad to get the all season mats as a gift. The trunk mat turned out to fit perfectly in my E91. When I fold down the seats to throw my bike in the back, it perfectly covers up the seating area. Its almost uncanny how closely it fits.

Technically it should all come back. Now if you personally paid for the floor mats keep them. But if the dealer "threw them in" you should return them w/ car.

That was my point about being tight. I'm sorry, but unless the paperwork you signed when leasing the car shows an itemized list of things you paid for separately, I don't know why you think that is "yours". These items may be things that dealers overlook and let you get away with taking, but that doesn't make it right. Thus my ketchup packet analogy...restaurants will let you get away with it, that doesn't make it right.

Why not take the cigarette lighter and ipod cable while your at it.

For a $725? acquisition fee you should be able to keep all of those and receive a nice pat on the back also!

Have any ideas what you are going to replace that 335 with?

Folks, let me be clear, I'm not looking to steal anything that the dealer put on the car. All I wanted clarification on was the ED added items that would have been stripped out of the car once it got to the US port.

I think it is clear that the mats, first aid kit and the warning triangle were NOT delivered on any non ED US vehicle that BMW made in 2007. All of these items would have been taken out of the car before it was redelivered to me in the US if I had not packed them in my luggage when I flew home from Munich. It seems that I cannot take the flashlight since that was a standard item on normal, non ED, deliveries in 2007. The bottom line is that I can add these three items to my next BMW which will not come with these items if I get it via a standard, non ED, US delivery

Now, that all of my original questions have been answered, how can I get the moderators of this Board to close this thread to further comments?

Yes, another ED - 2011 335i should be in Port Newark today.... I shoulda got the M3 instead...

Sorry, but I am calling BS on this. BMW does not provide floor mats on most models so they are in most cases "thrown in" by the dealers. What if you are turning in somewhere other than where you took delivery? Are you supposed to return the mats to the dealer who provided them? I would expect that the mats, in the cases where they were 'thrown in" would be considered gifts under most states laws entitling the buyer/lessee to keep them. Furthermore, most car manufacturers (including BMW) provide allowances in the form of dealer holdbacks for prep work, mats, wheel locks etc. And if the holdback doesn't cover the mats, surely the bogus "out the door" fees we all pay when we buy/lease covers it.
