And as I have always thought:
If you want to drive your living room, buy a Lexus
If you want to drive a bank vault, buy a Mercedes
If you want to drive, buy a BMW

p.s. watch for the BMW to go 1/2 a model up from the 7 by way of the new models from the GT project.
Soon BMW will have a new four door Gran Coupe and from what I've seen it's gonna put the hurt on Merc's CSL.

Pharding, if you do, please don't post a review. I was very happy with my 328 until I read your first review on the F10, and after that, I couldn't stop thinking about it until I got one... Your points of view as an architect on the esthetics of the vehicle helped me A LOT with my decision. Thanks!!!

P.S. This time my goal is to keep the 535 at least for 5 or 6 years... When I told my wife that, she said, "I think I've heard that before... "

I apologize.

Congrats on the 535i. The 535i is without a doubt the best value in the world of cars. Great price. Great residual value. Great gas mileage.

I had my 550i up to 135 mph on the Autobahn. That was fun. I mentioned that here and an easily influenced member of Bimmerfest read that and went 160 mph on a US road. I need to be careful what i post.

I was going to do a review of the Audi R8. I better hold off or your wife might get really pissed at me.

I am lusting after the Style 312 20" wheels for my 550i. In Ferric Gray they would look spectacular with my Sophisto Gray 550i.

Now, pharding, tell the whole story. The Bimmerfest member was a passenger in his own car and was not in favor of what the driver was doing. He said the driver was trained in high speed driving. I have a feeling that driver was a cop.

Prior to ordering my F10 550 I drove a MB E350 and a 535 back to back. The BMW 535 was better in every respect. However BMW's are not everyone. In the US a lot of older people like the E-Class. So there is no shame if you drive a MB E-Class.

I totally agree, Rudegar. I have a 2010 GLK 350, and the thing is built like a bank vault--rock-solid. But for sheer driving excitement and "joy", I go with BMW.

Doesn't the speed at which one enters a curve depend on the geometry and radius of the curve? While on the Autobahn I entered a curve at 135 mph, but what does that prove? Absolutely nothing.

Toyota sells a lot more Camry's than BMW sells 5 er's. With your sales logic the Camry is a better car.

Babken you should troll off to another message board. You are damaging our image of Armenia and its fine people.

Take both to a track and test under as similar conditions as possible if you're really that uptight about handling numbers between the two. I find it pretty unpleasant to drive these larger types of cars at the limit, so it's not as important for me as are other factors between the two, so long as handling is sufficient for its intended purpose.

I am still on the fence with regard to the dynamic handling package for my 535xi. Your impression is helpful.

I'm glad to help. My guess is that unless you are into tracking your car, or very agressive driving, the standard setting is very good. My previous car was a 3 series with Sports package, so I guess I should be able to tell if there was a dramatic difference on my day-to-day driving.

BIG thanks for the correction assist. It's been like hitting one's head against the wall.

Looks like I have company...the camera guy in this X5M video. Vehicle went up to 162 mph. Even though they (driver and passenger) planned this, I bet the camera guy got almost as uncomfortable as I did:

+1. Ditto and all that Mr. pharding....imagine that between you and I.

Read his other posts and looks like we have a MB mole and/or party crasher here. Approach is destructive and confontational not constructive. He may point out details and obscure facts, but there's one thing MB will never get to is the soul.

Just took Armenia off the bucket list.

Just traded in my 2010 e550 on a 530i

You can read all you want about the eclass being better. But I am proof that the 530i is superior! Just traded my POS eclass in on a 530i! Falling apart and I have owned over 10 benzs! Won't buy another one!

200% agree with you ,Last week I went for a drive event with 535 , A6 and E class with crazy speeds at crazy turns...

There is no freaking way E class can be competition to these cars...
Even The interior of e class sucks big time..,,!

I loved my 06 E-Class until some unlicensed driver smashed into it. I shopped for an 08 but they were all Sport models and too late to order the softer ride. I ended up trying my first 5 Series for 08. Recently, I figured I'd take a look at the newly done E Class. I was hoping they'd steal from the new S-Class which I just adore. but is too big for me. I didn't even take the E for a test drive. I thought it looked cheap inside. The COMAND screen was smaller than my 5 Series. The NAV was lacking. I thought the fit and finish was so-so. It looked like they based it on the recently redone C-Class which was a big improvement for the C-Class, but a marked drop in my book for the E-Class.

At the time, I didn't even know the 5-Series had been reborn. I loved it on first site. The ride was softer than my E60. I liked that. The steering lighter. Well, I can live with that. I'm all about comfort. The body style is pleasing and unique. (I never really liked the E60) The tech is the best you can get and makes the E Class look like something from the 80s. It took me about 3 hours to decide to buy. So now I wait...

One of my best friends drives an MB E-Class. After driving my 550i, he is going to switch to a BMW 535.
