buying a 2001 m3

I am looking at buying this 2001 m3 here in atlanta. I have been looking for quite some time and was wondering what you guys on here thought about the car and what I should offer him. here are the specs:

2001 E46 BMW M3 with 104,500 Miles. 6 Speed Manual.


Silver Exterior with Black Leather. It has a spotless carfax and has never been wrecked.

he is asking 13,500 and I went on kbb and in good condition it is right around 13000 for the car. there is a small dent on the passenger side and the wheels have some curb rash. do you guys think this price is close to what he should be asking seeing as it has these small upgrades and things like that. I need your opinion! thanks

Have you gotten a pre-purchase inspection? I would highly recommend it, my pre-purchase inspection turned up a few grand in issues that I resolved before the sale was closed. If you want the modifications that is great, but they seldom add value to a car and typically pigeon holes the seller into finding an enthusiasts buyer as most 'normal' people don't want mods on their car.

I bought one in Jan. Did the free sub-frame inspection and work needed to be done. There was no cost to me and it took 4 weeks. I read some mention of the deadline being early Sep for this inspection, but I'm not certain about that.

Other thoughts:
CD player... who cares? It's old tech... get interface for iPod or such (160 GB is a whole mess of CD's)... "tape deck"??? --- yikes.
That flywheel noise seems spooky (but i didn't fully read UUC's explanation.)
No strut bar?
Lots of sporty mods that indicate sporty driving... though it's hard to drive these cars in a non-sport fashion.

... hope that's helpful and not just demoralizing.
