Hey everyone.
Just traded in my '03 525i today for a brand-new 128i (6MT). Picked it up at VOB BMW in Rockville, MD this afternoon. I test drove it last night - literally on a whim - and feel very lucky that they basically had exactly what I wanted on the lot: a crimson red, bare-bones 128i with a manual trans., and moonroof. Congrats. I just bought a 128 last night in Annapolis, MD area. It's on order and should be here in the next few weeks. Do you know how long the break-in period is?

Congrats to both of you. I did Euro Delivery on August 2 - now, I'm just waiting for the car to reach me in Arlington, VA. We'll have to do a meetup sometime.
BTW: Mine's a SGM 135i vert w/Savannah Beige, loaded. Had a blast driving it on the Autobahn. Break-in is about 1200 miles, so I couldn't really run it flat-out, but 100 mph was pretty cool. The break-in time varies for various components (engine, tires, brakes). There's a list somewhere in the owner's manual. |

I did an ED too - and I was told, 1200 miles, keep it under 4000 RPM, and below 100mph...
It was tough, specially the 4000 RPM... going up and down the Austrian/Italian Alps. The 100 MPH was OK... straight line speeding is less exciting. But I did eventually pass the break in while I was still in Europe. My top speed was a little over 125 MPH (200 KMPH) as indicated by my GPS. The speedo showed something in excess of 130... so I guess, that is the fastest that this car will see. |

Hey Guys,
Congrats on the new 1ers! I did my ED on August 12th and was able to get plenty fast on the autobahns without breaking any limits (I think). Although I was told 4500rpm and 100mph. May have approached 4000rpm trying to pass a super slow truck in the unrestricted zone. Should be going through customs now in Newark -- PCD next month maybe? Looks like I'm still the only Blue Water in the District. ![]() --John |

Congrats! I did ED in July on 128i 6mt and took redelivery last week. I've been driving it for a week and it's amazing. So happy with the car!
