Vibration on 22s-Pulling my hair out

Alright guys, I have an issue that I can't figure out. My shakes like a Parkinson's patient when I've got my 22s on it. I have Lexani LSS-10 22x9.5 and 22x10.5 with Nexen 3000 (Lexani) 265/30/22 and 295/25/22 tires. None of the wheels are bent and the tread is excellent with no un-even wear, cupping, etc... The set has been rebalanced 5 times by different tire stores with no results. I can slap my OEM wheels back on and they ride true and straight with no vibrations and the tires are pretty shot... BTW, everything is torqued to spec.

Any suggestions of where to start? What is the likelihood that the tires are out of round?

Best guess would be thrust rod bushings. If the vibration is the worst at 60-70 MPH I would almost guarantee that they are the problem. Dealer just replaced mine under warranty, and it solved the same problem.

I would have the wheels balanced by road force, its the only way to do 22's. If that doesnt work they are bent or out of round.

Yep. Done that too...

I'm intrigued by the thrust rod bushing idea. Does anyone have any insight?

Are the wheels hub centric because you may need centering rings way to check is remove the lugs on the wheel then see if the rim hub is snug with the hub on the car if you can slide the rim up and down you need centering rings

A few things to check

- Center Bore of the wheels. May need hub centering rings.
- Do you have the proper lug bolts for the 22s?
- Suspension components. Is something worn out? Such as a bushing or ball joint?
- Are the wheels or tires out of round?
- Are the brake rotors either warped, or unbalanced?

Yes, on a regular balancer, you can still get bent wheels to balance to zero. However, on a Roadforce, it would still have balanced out, but it would have told you the wheels out of wack.

I guy on the lexus forum said he had a set of Asantis that were made out of round and would do the exact same thing as you described, I also have a set of 8000$ set of Asantis that the paint peeled off of within 4 months Im still waiting to see if they re going to repaint them I was told by Asanti there is no warranty on paint work, however the shop i deal with is trying to pull some strings, point is Lexani/Asanti are both garbage and their customer service is too!

If wheels have been road force balanced any bend or if the rim is out of round would have already been found by the machine.

Don't know much about the rims but looks sounds like to be u need to get hubcentric rings. If your thread is good, everything is balance your old rims don't cause the problem then u may need some hubcentric rings. Tell your tyres techo this and If he good he should be able to solve the problem.

Should have thought of this from day one. Was a manager at a tire shop once upon a time...

Ordered today

Yep.
- Suspension components. Is something worn out? Such as a bushing or ball joint?
Everything looks great.
- Are the wheels or tires out of round?
Balanced (and road force balanced 4 times recently...)
- Are the brake rotors either warped, or unbalanced?
Stops like a charm from any speed with any wheel on.

I disagree. I have aftermarket wheels on EVERYTHING that I own. Always have. I've had 24's with a rubberband tire ride smooth as glass. I just know that there's something else that I'm missing. Trying the hub rings.

I'm not very thrilled with their customer service either. I called today and it sounds like someone in the shop answered. Loud as **** in the background. Someone finally gave me the center bore and I found the center bore of the 7 so rings are next. I'm getting sick of this.

Long story short, I ordered some hub centric rings because my Lexanis are a 74.1mm center and the car is 72.56 center. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome. If not, I might have a slightly used set of 22s for sale pretty cheap. Only had them 8 months and driven on them for about 2.

Hey Mate,

I dont know how much they cost the person but just like to add. dont go cheap on the rings -(spacers).

Cheap ones can break under the torque going to the wheels. Get ones that come from a company that been making them for a while.

I can make you a set of spacers out of iron for 20 bucks. Scape metal, grinder and a drill. .

I dont think you understand what a hub centering ring is.

Same issue here at one point, got them road force balanced and the vibes went away, Have to do it again now - just got two new tires put on, thought they were balanced but probably not. I am getting it at 60mph again.
