Should I have gotten a Panamera?

i have now forgotten the Panamera.....

i now want a Rolls Royce Ghost or a Ferrari 458 or California (viewed both cars last wkend and cant keep my mind off the Rolls)

The RR Ghost is something..

I am very impressed with the comments on this thread--great perspective.

While driving downtown Dallas yesterday I saw a Panamera pull up next to me. I swear that thing looks like it has a hatachback. Not impressed with the looks of the car at all, but the contrast colors are very attractive. I wouldn't buy one EVER. I would consider a Mercedes AMG.

I don't care for the looks of the Panamera at all--no matter what the price is. You almost feel sorry for the schleps driving them because the car is really ugly and everyone knows it. Nice try Porsche, but now go back to the drawing board and do a better job. I promise the current style will tank as soon as they change the body style to something more pleasing.

Totally understand the OPs comments about the 7 being a bit boring - most new BMWs are. They've become a bit too good.

We are victims of our own misguided desires...WE have, with our wallets, indicated to car companies that we want fast, fast SUVs that handle well, and now with the advent of the Panamera and Rapide, we want really sexy sports-car-like full size sedans!

We always lust after what is elusive. You buy a big car, but you want more power and better handling. Buying a smaller car never enters out thoughts, we just expect BMW/MB/Audi etc.. to build a faster version next time around. - So the point is, if you 7 series is too boring, is the problem with the car, or is your choice of car the real problem?

I've driven the Panny - same exact thing as the Cayenne in that it's basically no better than its competition until you go fully loaded turbo and.....its easily 20% more apples to apples than the opposition. But it is a lot sexier looking than a 7.

What about the QP. I've never driven one, but its supposed to be the most fun you can have in the full size segment?

Get into any BMW M, Mercedes-Benz AMG, Audi RS, or Porsche Turbo, and you should not be disappointed.

Too bad there's no M7 to go head to head with the S65 AMG! 600 horses from the factory would be sick!

The Ghost is nice, but I would not be able to get past the fact that it's a reengineered 7. Have you sat in one? The interior is all 7, and it's obvious.

i am sure we would all love a rr ghost.

those cars are not in the same price range of the most loaded, expensive 7 series or panamera, by one hundred thousand dollars.

i would much rather s65 for 200k$ and keep 100k$ in my pocket than choose the ghost.

but as you know, my opinion may differ from yours.

The base price on the S is about $205,000 and the ghost is $245,000 so not near $100k difference as you say.

As for me I like the ghost more. If you're going for performance obviously the S takes it but for 200+k can get a few cars that outperform the S.

A Rolls Royce is a Rolls Royce and I wish I owned the Rolls Royce Ghost.

While I agree that the Panamera is one the best 4 door saloons out right now, I must disagree that looks better than a 7.

From the front, it does look great but the profile and the rear of the car is just awful.

You know Porsche is in trouble when their best selling car is a truck made by VW.

Panamera interior is comparable in size to a 5 series, not 7. But, if size is not much of a concern and yet you need 4 doors and want exclusivity, I highly recommend 4S. Must be driven to be believed.

that is quite a bargain considering prices you folks over there are paying!

i never really understood such the dramatic price premium.

most people i know overseas they just have someone send the car from here after purchase, much more cost efficient.

I paid US$220k for my 730, the RR Ghost is retailing at US$850k here in Singapore, the 760 retails for US$420k

Over the past few years I have had a gallardo, a 360 and 997 porsche turbo as my fun cars. Good cars in your 20-30's I guess but the hard seats, lack of space, service etc becomes a real PITA. My 997 is now up for sale and I am in a GL550 and a 750LI. I am 42 in about a month's time. I just had enough of sports cars, they serve no purpose apart from showing off, as all cars do to a certain extent, they are a status symbol of where you are perceived to be in life.

I would rather be in a big comfortable battle ship these days compared a 997, aston, ferrari or lambo.

A lot of thugs drive fat limos where I live so I do not really feel old although I can see some guys in their early 30's feel that way.

And how much are the income tax rates you pay?
