18x9 Style 42 Pics

Here's the deal. Couldn't pass up on the blow out sales lately of OEM wheels.

Specs: 18x9, ET 24
Tires: Dunlop Direzza Z101: 255/35 Why? 'Cuz I have them on my stock Style 42s 17x8 and they're great for Cali roads/weather, plus they're quiet.

Staggered: Um, not this time. Already running stags on MPars.

Fitment issues: NONE. I've test fitted and had 1/4" or less clearance from strut.

Would 265 tires fit? It'll fit, but it'll make the wheels look bubbly. I have 265 on 18x9.5 Mpars and it looked good. Next set of tires, I might try 255/40 since I have enough clearance and may want more of a softer ride. Right now, the ride is A LOT smoother than my staggered Z1 Star Specs. Going square is the way to go for more of a balance ride. I'll stop and let the pics do the talking. Thanks to E30memorial, Bunk and Graham for tips.

Also, I will be adding spacers. The front has a lot of room and since I already have 15mm H&R spacers, I'm going to test fit them by this week. The rears probably will be happy with 10mm. Tune in.......












**UPDATE** w/15mm spacers 13 October 2010

Installed 15mm for fronts/rears. Fronts fit easily and can go another 5mm out. Had to get rears rolled and now there's no more rubbing.

Those look good. I've got 18x8 style 42's on my (soon to be totaled) touring, and I've always wondered what a wider lip would look like.

I may have to sell two of them and go staggered if I get another e39. Where did you buy them and how much did they run?

Go with Hankook Ventus V12's man. Best tire I've ever ran for the price. And bro the wheels look DAMN sharp! Nothing like a great new set of wheels to totally change the look of your car. Nice!

All four for less than $800???? Damn. If I go e39 again I will be sorely tempted to buy 2 )(presumably for $400) and go staggered.

Beautiful!! I love 42s, especially 18"s!

I should have mine mounted up this weekend or Monday. I can't decide on tires yet though. I don't see any pics?? It says "moved or deleted"? Not sure 265's would look bubbly as this is the size recommended for 9" wide rims. That's what I run, 265's on my 18" OEM style 37 M pars and I don't see a "bubbly" look?? You must have 9.5" aftermarket Mpars as the oem factory rear is 9" wide.

Where'd the pics go?
I have fallen in love with my car all over again now that I have the 18" style 42s. I am loving them. The 17" 42s are making a great set of track tires for me.

BTW had a chance to run the Star Specs at the track last weekend (Grattan, MI) in an absolute down pour most of the day, and came away quite impressed with their wet performance. You will be very pleased with them as street tires. The was A LOT of standing water on the track and I only had some minor hydroplaning at 100+ on the straight. I run a 245/45-17 on those.

Heh, Silver E39 - I thought I was looking at a picture of my car for a second, I have the exact same Thule setup, although it mounted to the wagon at the moment.

Yeah, REALLY curious about your spacer setup and any clearance issues with the fender lip.

I am betting you are going to rub with 15mm's on the rear, especially without the fender rolled...
