Let me preface this with the fact that this 335i is my replacement e93. My 2007 was bought back in 2008, racking up over 100+ days in the shop with issues. This 2008 has been in the shop 6 weeks this Summer for Comfort Access issues.
Labor Day my HPFP gave out at 25,101 on the odo. Left me stranded in the morning on my way to work (yes, some of us had to work that day). I had to call BMW Roadside and have it towed. It's tough to watch that low car get manhandled because it BARELY makes it on the flatbed tow truck without scraping the ground, but they are very considerate that it is a pricy car and do their best. No problems with the dealership. HPFP replaced. Back by Friday. Even had it delivered to my work. Sweet. Yay.
Sunday night. Driving home. Top down. Just got done visiting my Mom, headed to Dinner with my Spouse and In-Laws. Meeting them at the Restaurant. Screen and Bong Simultaneously. :tsk: Rear Left Tire Pressure Low. I pull over. Sure enough, it's to the ground. I hear hissing. Since they are "run flats", I figure I can make it the one exit to the restaurant, right? I did. Got there. Ate. Didn't even mention it to the table. Whole time I'm thinking (GREAT, have to get new tires.) I left the restaurant, driving the 2 miles home, going 35mph. I smell burning and then a LOUD POP! YEAH, those "run flats" aren't "run flats." They barely made it 3 miles! Since I had no spare, I'm SOL. Now my spouse left after I did, thankfully. He saw that I was on the side of the road with hazards on. He pulls over. I'm on the phone with the slimeballs at BMW Roadside who won't tow it to my tire shop. They want to charge me $200 for that. (It's like 1 mile away). The closest dealer?? 33 miles away!:tsk: Well, I'm not paying $400 per tire! So what good are "run flats" if they don't work and you have no spare?! AND THEY LEAVE YOU STRANDED on the side of the road for 1 1/2 hours? I luckily still have AAA. Called them, they came right out. Thank you very much AAA! Towed it to my house then came this morning and towed it to the Tire Shop because they didn't want a BMW siting out front of the tire shop all night long, all for the cost of one call. Now that's an honest to good Company right there.
I DID NOT buy runflats as replacements. What good were they anyway? I bought Bridgestone Potenzas and they are FANTASTIC and my car handles and drives like a dream. I will say this. If BMW does not get their ****ake mushrooms together and listen to their customers, I will not be buying another one of their cars ever, ever again. EVER.
I hope this is the last time I have to bring this car into the shop for awhile. I don't like having to deal with my cars. I never had issues with my 95, 99, 03 BMW's. The 07, 08's have been garbage.
End rant.
