Without the advantage of a back to back driving comparo like you got, my desk chair perception is that the low end torque advantage from the blown I6 probably makes the 1M feel more ballsy in day to day around town driving, even though the maximum thrust from the M3's glorious V8 is significantly greater when it gets a chance to wind up.

That seems to be validated by your experience with respect to the 1M being better in the corners, even though the M3 toasts it on the straights.

And then there's the MPG and range advantage.

But once you add markup, it totally isn't worth it.

At 10K markup, that makes it a 65K car.

You can buy a lot of nicer cars at 65K, new or used.

A nice, late production 2005 GT3 with a top of the line extended warranty for example.

A new M3.

A new Coxster S.

A new Gheyman S.

Makes no sense what BMW is doing by artificially limiting the supply when this car is extremely uncompetetive at 65K.

I agree completely.

This car makes sense in four years, when it is used and on sale second hand for $35,000. It won't depreciate much below that, so it is a great investment.

2 MSDs - was the most I could due to the low MF from BMWFS.

I asked BMW PR Folk this weekend. They said dealers are only gouging prices in California.
