exhaust rasp & drone
Am new to this forum after stepping up from a heavily modified '97 E36 M3 I owned for 10 years.
I have a 2005 M3 with the Comp. Package & just did a complete exhaust. Supersprint stepped headers (version 1, not direct fit), Supersprint section 1 pipe with high flow cats welded in (Random Tech 7000 series), the stock section 2 pipe & a Rogue El Diablo muffler.
There is still a rasp around 2700-2800 RPM & a heavy drone around the same, both of which go away once the revs climb. As much as I like to hear an exhaust, it borders on being unacceptable.....which is all very subjective.
My question is "will replacing the stock section 2 pipe with a resonated pipe (by SS, Rogue, or anyone else) do anything substantial to further reduce the rasp & drone? I've talked to a rep at BMP who says that the rasp will be reduced, by the drone is a function of the muffler. Others say that the rasp will not be reduced by replacing the section 2 pipe.
Anybody out there with a similar setup that could offer some advice?
