M5 Mobility Kit
I recently purchased a 2000 M5. It does not have the mobility kit. There is a kind of foam insert under the trunk deck that appears to be molded for some tools and a kit. I am assuming it is molded for a mobility kit. I also have noticed in looking at parts websites that there are different versions of the mobility kits out there. I would really appreciate some guidance and would love to have a picture of what the mobility kit in the foam container looks like in a 2000 M5.
Also, I have never used a mobility kit and have some anxiousness about relying on it completely. Don't you still need a jack to get weight off the tire in case the bead unseats. Thanks for your help. |

My 2000 M5 didn't have the kit either. And I'm sure BMW wants an arm and your firstborn for it. So today I stumbled upon a kid made by SLIME that is basically a can of fix-a-flat and a compressor that plugs into your 12V DC cigarette outlet. This is pretty much exactly what the M Mobility kit comprises of.

Thanks for the tip. Looks like they make a good product for about 1/2 the cost of the OEM product.

FYI if you wanted info on the BMW parts here is the Realoem link. Looks like there were several differnt styles of kits available
http://realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mo...92&hg=71&fg=07 I tested two different ones that seemed to be to be complete kits 1) part # 71102229700 superceeded by part #71102228911 $95 on getbmwparts.com 2) part # 82110134558 superceeded by part # 71100413439 I really don't know much about the M mobility kit just did some quick searching on realoem and getbmwparts If you want the bmw kit shop around for prices, maybe getbmwparts, eactuning, ecstuning my guess is the slime kits a cheaper. No idea which is better. o my understanding they both leave a mess inside the tire/wheel that is a pain to clean out when you go to mount the new tire.
