E550 vs 650i

My Lease is up next October I'm looking at the E550 coupe and the 650i, the price differential on both is around $20,000. My dilema is I really would like the 650i but the $20,000 difference in price is hard to swallow, I can afford it but I'm not one to throw money away if I can buy something comperable and cheaper. Need advise from the 650i owners about why the extra $20,000 is worth it or not. Thank you all!

How about this; the 650 will be $20,000k less than the MB S Coupe (CL).

I would go for the E550 Coupe... its a new model and it looks pretty hot. The 650i is due for a change over... definitely would not recommend buying one now unless you are going used.

My Lease is up next October I was thinking of going for the E550 and then take a look at the 650i in a couple of years. One thing I read on one of the MB forums is that the E class was based off the C class platform, if that's the case I may change my mind. Gotta do more research, that may be why its so much cheaper than the 650i.

It would seem they are in slightly different classes. I have driven both recently and the E550 coupe is great, but doesn't feel as "special" or planted as the 650i. Now, I am picking my 2010 650i up tomorrow morning and will tell you that there are great deals out there now as the model update is coming for 2012. I was able to negotiate >$16k off of MSRP so the price of that and a loaded E550 are close to comparable.
In terms of feeling special, I found the CLS550 to be closer to the feeling of the 650i.

I don't think you can lose, no matter which you choose.

E coupe is CLK. So it is based off the C class platform. For that get a 2011 335i coupe.

i like the e550 coupe over the 6 series. New body vs about to be replaced body, is worth consideration. The money you save is pretty significant, and the look is great.
