DWM euro glove box

Of course, I had to practically force Ron to take a few bucks for the SS mirror screws he gave me and Edscuba at HC, (and he's given me a lot of advice) so who knows if they'd be insulted or not.

I guess since my glove box doesn't rattle or droop (amazing what a tube of high temp RTV can do, when you have the box out anyway fro mods), I haven't been too concerned, tho I'll admit the Euro box looks much better. Now in my E39, the damn glove box is just plain intrusive as hell, and that tank should have plenty of protection even with the euro dash.

No i don't mean if someone wants to add suspension to there car that we should send them money, but when someone is buying or building something that we want and there will be a cost,.. 4 or 5 dollars from us would help them out

At least in this particular case, I told Andy I'd pay for it and it'd be my loss if it doesn't fit. I need LeatherZ to stay in business more than I need a Euro glove box.

Hey Perry i thought I dodged that bullet from anyone hearing about that here on the fest
I still can not believe I hit that damn buy it now, But no I was able to talk with the guy and ebay and explain it, he seemed pretty cool, im still not sure if he is going to hit me with a negative feedback..
I also started to think that worst case If i had to buy it that JonM would have given me top dollar for it since it was pistachio
I am always going to double check what button I hit now on ebay though

I might be interested in both sides if they are available in beige.

looks like the under pinnings of the dash are diff. to, like the plastic parts that hook to the glovebox and then to the firewall, the same piece that the leatherz fott well lights attach to

This link will detail the parts required for the Euro dash conversion in the E39 5 series. There is another link in this site that takes you to pictures of the conversion. I have had this in my last two 5 series cars. The extra knee room is invaluable.

To answer an earlier question,

Yes the Canadian model glovebox is the same mas the U.S. spec.
Most of our cars are identical to yours save for the 94 M3 (Eurospec) and 95 M540i. There's one of 2 others, but they're not significant.

I have been contemplating that to, it looks like the parts needed will be the
1. Euro wheel
2. airbag for wheel
3. clock spring
4. wheel trim w/ screw and such

the nut kicker is the airbag that is about 300.00-400.00 bucks

on the other side of it though, I have seen our 3 spoke wheels and airbags on ebay before going for 250.00-350.00 complete so that would offset the cost,
And it is available with the Matte Chrome trim
here is a pic with the matte chrome, I did notice though that the wheel does not have the thumb bulges


I still like this euro part I got from Andy, easy to change and more my price range

Well, do the newer 2001 and 2002 coupes need a new airbag? I thought we had the dual stage airbag already. What is the difference between the two?

And on an unrelated note...

The center of my steering wheel can be pushed in about a quarter to a half an inch. Like there is nothing behind it. Kinda flimsy, is it supposed to be this way?

both are dual stage but, yours and mine is a triangluar bag and the euro one is a round bag, physically diff.

Oh well, the sacrifices I make for my car...

The parts department is closed until after New Years. I do know of someone that is working on the parts. His way would be easier so I am tempted to see what he comes up with.

Someone here (I will let him post details when he is ready) was able to get one side through a US dealer. He was waiting on the passenger side. I was waiting to hear from him if he could get both sides and how they look. US Dollar is in the toilet and we would get killed on importing them. If it is possible to go through a US dealer it is easier for all.

I ordered one to see what it looks like. Since I'm always doing things on the car I thought it also might be easier to remove and install. It was supposed to arrive at the dealer yesterday, but didn't. They expected it today, but I didn't check. Will post some pics when it shows up.

The passenger side in black has been added to the NA system.

I did not order one since I'm using the space in the current glovebox. It's also not a knee room issue. I have no problems with a rattling glove box. I have the Walmarts stick on foam inside and on the back. All seams in the back have been hot glued.
Most important thing on the glove box is to engage the lower support bracket when installing it. This is not mentioned in the repair info and is probably skipped by many.

Beige hase some qualifiers. On the drivers sdie it varies whether you have alarm or not. For black it doesn't for some reason. Beige 2 is similar. Varies with cars too.

My ***guess*** for your 1.9 is:
drivers side up to 4/99 51 45 8 399 925.
drivers side with alarm up to 4/99 51 45 8 410 425. Euro uses a different alarm.

passenger side up to 4/99 51 45 8 399 930.

Have no idea if either is in the NA system. If not, ask your dealer to add them.

Odd that there is no alarm concern with black. Beige 2 is from 4/99.
