Hi Technic, will this harness work if I'm thinking about switching out the head unit? I'll send you a PM. Thanks!

Hi Technic, how much is one of these including shipping to the UK? I've only just found out about these, so have a couple of questions:

How many channels does an aftermarket amp need to replace the HK amp?

What kind of wattage should the amp have to be suitable for the E46 system and do you need to run a separate amp for the subs? I'll be using CDT 6x9 subs.

Any ideas on what sort of RMS speakers I should look at? I want speakers that fit without cutting the door so will likely go for 6.25" with adapter rings.

Many thanks!

The E46 HK amp uses 11 channels, 10 high level (one per woofer/mids and tweeters) and 1 low level (subwoofer mono amp input).

E46 HK harness have the interface wires for only the 10 high level channels. Only balanced inputs aftermarket amps are directly compatible with the harness.

The aftermarket amp(s) output power that you choose will determine the power rating of the speakers that you will use -or vice versa.

Please search for a more detailed information about your system and upgrade options.

Hi Technic,

I have a E90 with stereo system (not HiFi or Alpine HiFi).

Is it possible to use this cable so i can connect an amp?
Or do i have to code my car to think it has a HiFi amp and then use the cable?

And do you ship international? (Netherlands)

Thanks in advance

Amazing Technic! by the way, is that applicable to the new 3series, F30 HIFI system? I'm working also on my amp DIY and found your thread after buying Zapco 1000.4. I should have read this earlier and bought yours for super convenient installation. Actually I'm stuck at finding at the color code of F30 amp wire. I am trying to connect front and subwoofer to my 4channel amp. Can you let me know which colors of wire should I use? I bought DD link to convert the high to low signals.

Hi Technic,

Will this harness be suitable for replacing the factory amp in a UK spec 2012 F10 (535d) with "business" hi-fi option (BMW code 676) ? I have an amp in the trunk and 12 drivers total.

If so, can you ship to UK ?

I'm probably installing the latest Gladen 201 BMW-specific speakers up front. Is an XD600/6 still the amp to go for ?

I can't PM yet: as an F10 owner this isn't my natural habitat but I haven't seen a harness like this anywhere else.....

Thanks

MM

The HiFi (676) harness in this thread works with the F10. I would suggest the new XD800/8 amp as the replacement of the 7ch OEM amp.

Hi Technic

You mentioned that the harness is for the BLACK amp on the left side of the trunk

I have a 2011 335d, and the amp I found is SILVER, would your harness
work if I want to upgrade my amp to the JL D600.

My speaker configurations are as follow, so I would say I have the Hi-fi option
2 front mids + 2 Tweeters
2 back mids
2 sub

I already replaced the stocked speakesr with BSW 4 mids + 4 tweeters
the sound definitely improved, but the volume level are still pretty low
Would this JL amp upgrade mate with the BSW? And with the harness
it would not be hard to swap out the stocked amp, right?

Also, I see another similar SILVER unit, when I lift the carpet trunk liner
it has some connections, separate wires with color coded connector.
It sits on the right side of a dual bracket, and the left side is empty, look like
it is reserved for some optional equipments

What is that?

Sonny

HiFi OEM amp changed from black to light grey in MY2011.

I reserve "silver" for the Logic7/HK OEM amps color to not confuse anyone.

The XD600/6 fits where the HiFi OEM amp is.

The main OEM amp connector matches the harness connector, however the DSP part may or may give you an error once disconnected.

You may try unplugging that amp completely and see what happens...
