VIP Euro Del
I've heard that there is a 'higher' VIP-VIP version of European Delivery.
Does anyone know anything about this or how to request it? |

Where did you hear that?
The only version I know is Spira Delivery. It allows you to see many things we don't get to see.

Well, I do remember reading (when the Welt was being opened) that it features a special set of closed-access presentation areas with curtains etc. I've always been wondering...

I think you request it through your CA/dealer. And likely someone at BMW will designate VIP (or not).

I wouldn't think so - I don't think BMW's like Disneyland where you pay more to jump the line etc.
I'm speculating, but it sounds like it's something for celebrities so they don't get unduly mobbed/photographed out on the main floor or in the lounge, or folks like CEOs of key suppliers, senior management getting their cars etc. since they have a strong relationship with BMW Corporate and should be treated a little better. There's definitely additional cost to BMW for doing so - but they get rewarded by having a celeb in a BMW or that supplier having a good experience. Again, pure speculation on my part.

When we were there (2008) my wife was allowed into the VIP lounge (one level above the regular lounge) so she could change out of her wedding dress. It was not finished at the time, but I'm sure it is by now.

As far as I know, BMW decided not to go the VIP route.
I'm not sure if the VIP lounge was ever finished actually. I didn't even ask about it on my last two visits but I was told earlier that BMW had decided against a VIP program.

The ED I just experienced in mid-July and the Redelivery just this past week in Greenville, SC was exceptional. This is my first BMW and I must say, they have really made me feel important and special. Anymore wineing and dineing and I'd feel like I'm stealing from them. It's pretty amazing what they've done with the delivery options and now I get to cruise around my town in a brand new 335d. The car is amazing and the experiences I've already had are even better.

With BMW European Delivery, they treat everyone like a VIP. They could not possibly do better.

I'm not sure what you mean by "...all they do is..." Have you taken ED on a BMW before? The lounge that is open to you has complimentary beer, sodas, snacks, water, brats, etc. etc. etc. Yes, they give you a voucher for the restaurant and parking is free in the underground deck. During redelivery lunch is free, as is the track time with professional instructors. The list could go on. Comparing what BMW "has to do" with what they are doing for BMW owners, there is a large gap there, in our favor. Try doing any of that with any other brand.

On re delivery, BMW put us up in a nice hotel the night before and fed us a nice dinner. All included in the SC redelivery in 2008. Don't they still do this?

Yes, this will be my first European Delivery, and no, I will not be doing Performance Center Delivery. I was just confused with the 'wine and dine' reference. If BMW was to cover / arrange for a few dinners during one's stay in Munich that would be something vs. handing over a couple of vouchers to restaurants in BMW Welt - which I do not believe can be used for the more expensive offerings in the building; NOT that I am expecting same! Otherwise, I'm less concerned with what other makes do, as I am getting a BMW at the end of the day. I just want to make sure that I get the best possible treatment from BMW - whether I pay for it or not - while I'm there; which is why I am upset that the US Market is only offered 'premium delivery' vs. what the rest of the world gets with the optional 'vip delivery', which includes a full tank of gas, among other things.

My understanding is that European customers must pay a (not small) price to have the car delivered at the Welt. It is free for US customers (disregarding the .0003 MF adder).

We pay this too - it is included in the purchase price of the car.

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...eOverview.aspx These of course are extra cost and are essentially packaged luxury tours put together by a travel agency/service. I think some people here have done them, but the general view is that unless you hate travel planning you can do better at lower cost yourself.

I don't think there are different methods of delivery - I saw no evidence of it. As far as I was concerned, what I got was VIP treatment. Just a great experience all around. |

By the way, you also get a small voucher (about $10?) to use in the lifestyle shop. And they gave me a LARGE paperback book on the making of BMW Welt. THAT was a pain to carry home!

I have always recieved a full tank of gas with my car in the US, even when I bought a Honda. If you meant a full tank at the Welt, it was discontinued when the Welt opened in 2007 because of regulations about storing too much fuel inside a building.

Thank you everyone.
Pinmagic: Did you change your delivery date from Monday to another day of the week becuase the museum was closed on Monday? BMW Power: Those who take "VIP Delivery" at BMW Welt are given a full tank of gas upon delivery at BMW Welt, which is what I care about. Last edited by dbs600; 09-27-2010 at 12:31 PM. |

Is that a question of money (spent the last cent on 750) or convenience with you? Or is that just a matter of "somebody gets it and I don't"?
