Nobody told me that. But it does make sense.

I have always got a feeling that my dealer didn't do it right. I don't have Dinan software after all. Engine doesn't drink as much oil as yours. I am not a heavy footer. My MPG is around 18mpg, city and highway combined. Maybe this is another reason. Too lazy to get it verified from a third party. Maybe next year whenever I have time. Since the car is already very fast. So I am not very impressed.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I searched and cannot find the answer. It is my understanding that the 750 Hybrid has 455 HP (20 extra comes from battery boost?) and the X5 towing package with 4.4 engine (or is it a 4.8?......why didn't they do that for the 750??) has 440 HP. If these numbers are accurate, BMW is already "getting more" out of the 4.4 engine, but, I cannot get my service advisor to determine if this engine upgrade (I assume they increased the turbo boost) is available for the "straight" 750 4.4.
Has anyone figured out if BMW can do this upgrade on a 750 4.4? To earlier posts, I want to layer this on before doing the Dinan stage 1, if possible. thanks in advance....kt |

Be careful with the Dinan upgrade. A So Cal BMW dealer did mine and it took them 4 days, that's not a typo. I didn't need the car until the weekend anyways so no big deal, but... I got the car back and it really seemed like it was the same as before. Luckily I timed 0-60 runs the night before I had the upgrade done, 5.0 sec flat. Did the same and what do you know 5.0 sec. I called the dealer and of course got a song and dance routine. Even had the gall to tell me that the 0-60 times might be the same caus of the rpm where horsepower and torque kick in. Are you F-ing kidding me? The B7 is 500hp and does 4.4, my car is now 495hp and still does 5.0 flat? Brought it back and they of course confirmed that it was installed correctly, cya right? Told him to try it again, caus I'm not paying 3k for it to be the same performance as before. Got it back after 4 more days and many excuses and bam, there it is...4.3 sec 0-60. Thing is an absolute rocket and a totally different car. I am figuring that they knew I needed it back on Friday and still couldn't get it to connect and decided, what the hell. Could tell him we need him to bring it back on Monday and look like idiots or pretend it's done and maybe he won't even notice.
If you have had the upgrade done, I highly suggest you run 0-60 times to be sure. I was actually tricking myself into believing it was done right the first time, caus they wouldn't give it back to me not done, right?

I was in and out in thirty minutes and I could instantly tell the difference. The most accurate way of knowing if the Dinan upgrade actually worked would be to get a dyno.

Why not do a dyno to confirm result. Testing from 0-60 is not accurate.

Yes, obviously a dyno is the most accurate, but my goal was to see if the software was actually installed or not. With a stopwatch in sport+ I did 5-8 runs and they were all 4.9 - 5.1. After the upgrade they were 4.3 - 4.5. I don't care what my rear wheel hp is, I just wanted to make sure it was installed, which I did. Have you confirmed yours?
@ hammadurb My dealership sucks and is also unethical, great combo. @ huanjf The M Sport has the same hp as the non M, but the long wheel base in most tests is .1 sec slower to 60. So figure 5.1 stock, 4.4 upgraded.

If a dealer is that unethical...you should name them and call them out right here. I know I wouldn't want to do business with a dealer that had no issues incorrectly installing a $3k item.

I stopwatched mine last night. Guess what, 5.5sec, floored the gas 3 times on sport+, . So definitely my dealer cheated me out on this. My dealer (Crown BMW, Greensboro NC) is 60miles away from where I am. I did Dinan 3 month ago, and have been so busy these days, I will call them back first chance I got. Acutally, dealer "did" mine twice already, first trip, they did not have the right cable, so I drove 2 hour round trip for nothing. 2nd trip, cable and connector were still not working, I was there waiting and saw bunch of tech (6-8 of them) around my car discussing it, apparently there was a problem, waited for 1 hour, nothing happened, then I asked what was the problem? SA told me they went out to get the another cable for me, then another 1 hour later, SA came back saying it was done, they got it "tested" to make sure everything was "OK"... (Now I figure out, all this is bunch of BS) Paid the due and left. On my way back home, I tested the car on the highway, car seems lighter (must be my mind playing the trick). Anyway, I will call them back and this thing right. Will keep you guys updated.

@ mjr244 Great point and the sad thing is that they just came out on the top of the list of top BMW Dealerships...CREVIER BMW in Santa Ana, CA. Good thing there are 2 other BMW dealerships within 5 miles and 5-6 within 10 miles.
@huanjf Happy I could help you with this. When I got the car back the first time my first impression was this is exactly the same. Over time, in sport+, hammering it on the highway, it did seem lighter and quicker. I guess I was in denial also the the dealership would never give this back to me not upgraded...

Thanks man, Looking at all you upgrades, your car should run a little bit faster, I figure 0.3 even 0.4 second quicker. But at least my "supposely Dinan Li" should run under 5sec no sweat. What a rip off from this dealer, I think I should also make a complain to Dinan, let them know their authorized dealers are not doing what they suppose to do and cheating on customers, this gives very bad reputation to Dinan too!

You should definitely contact Dinan. Your car should be doing 0-60 in 5sec flat without the tuning. I am sure Dinan does not want to associate themselves with
Although I did not get a dyno done, the difference in the performance was very noticeable. After they did the upgrade, the tech test drove it and he couldn't believe the difference either, although I know it might sound a little biased. I was the first to tune it here in Tampa. I was fortunate that my dealer has a separate aftermarket tuning shop so they are quite experienced.

To install the software, the dealership gets the car hooked up online with Dinan and Dinan does the install. So they are both guilty. There is no way in the world that Dinan doesn't know if their software is installed correctly. But BMW could always unhook the car after numerous attempts and tell Dinan forget it then still charge you. You should contact Dinan before contacting the dealer, give them your vin and see if you are registered. That would be your smoking gun on the dealer.
Every time I get my car back from the dealer I'm gonna run 0-60. When they update any software on the car the Dinan software gets wiped out and they need to reinstall it. I bet they are a bunch of peeps running around thinking they have the software and don't.

Thanks for all your support and info. Next week I will be out of town for business. I will contact Dinan once I come back. Hope I wish I know what I should be looking for "noticeable different" as you guys mentioned above. Thanks

Although this falls in to the "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it" category, what impact on gas mileage does the Dinan s/w upgrade have?

Just had this done today on my 2011 750Li which I just picked up on Monday. It is absolutely amazing. Car is incredibly fast and responsive. I was thinking the car had excellent performance until I did this. Highly recommed.

That's exactly the point. Except when you get it installed and it's really not. You start thinking, ok maybe its faster and pulls a little harder. If they actually installed it obviously it's night and day different.
Like I said before, I'm sure there are people driving around thinking they have it installed and don't. With that being said, I'm sure if they did do a software upgrade and did not re-install the dinan you would instantly know.
