What do you guys think?

I recently bought a fresh set of style 32 rims for my baby but my 15 year old 15" basket-weaves need refinishing. I am going to refinish them and throw some blizzaks on them. Would you guys want me to put up a DIY thread on how to do this?

Please do ! It sounds cool. However, please start a new thread. This one is entitle "what do you guys think?" and no one has any clue as to what the subject is, which is very irritating when we're dealing with many threads. Good luck....and hey, have you considered chroming your basketweaves for a cool 21st century touch? I'm sure that can be DIYed as well.

I would post it under the 5 series DIY forum and let you gents know when its up. I gave serious consideration to chroming or even graphite paint (it'd look clean on Oxford green) but I will be using these in a winter setup. the harsh winters here would ruin chrome so i'm sticking with the OEM silver paint...

How do you actually DIY chrome the rims? Especially black chrome man that would look really hot.

That is not a DIY unless you have a Plating shop setup. I have one in my Living room. LOL... Not. LOL...LOL... Now, there are new paints /coatings that simulate chrome to the max but takes a great deal of skill to apply. I would love to see a finished product like that.

I would definitely appreciate a DIY on straightening rims (if it can be done in a home garage)... I have a set of style 68s for my e46 that I want to repaint myself, but I want to straighten them first.

I have looked into having my basket weave 16" wheel's chromed but It would be cheaper to buy new wheels! At least that's the case here in South Carolina.
What's the real deal on the wheel paint? Should I buy it from BMW? Is heat really an issue or can I take the BMW wheel paint number to my paint supplier and buy it there?
I've just put my car in my back yard next to my shop so I can take it apart and fix everything. Trying to work on it and also keep it on the road was not working for me.
My 19 year old used my car for a week while I repaired his 318TI. In that one week my right rear door was badly bent, looked to me like a case of beer got shoved into it. And worst of all the birds in his neighborhood crapped all over my car and that was some toxic poop as it has burned through the clear coat and ruined the paint. I'll be sanding it down for a respray. It would have been much cheaper for me to have paid to have his body work done and to have gotten him a rental car!

Duplicolor wheel paint: silver. Exactly the same, if not shinier..

Well its real difficult to see that was a bad picture taken from far away with the wheel in the shade to boot. Please take a close up with good lighting. That initial picture looked very off for sure, compared it against my ride and confirmed that. If you can, do take a picture of both your front wheels.

Aint' i demandin' ? lol

OK my mistake (or perhaps there was a momentary distortion in the space time continuum affecting the path light took to reach your camera, caused by a jump to light speed by an alien scout patrol looking to steal e34s as trophies) your wheels look ok, and in fact that car looks really great dude what shade is that? Metallic green...what? Rims, need no comment they look very elegant indeed.
