Can I sue BMW for sensors not working?
So I have sensors on the rear bumper of my car. I was backing out of the parking space and a car was stalling. My sensors didn't even pick anything up, I heard no beeping sound or anything and now I have a dent in my car. Can I sew my dealership or anything?

i dont think so... its still up to the driver to look back and make sure he's clear of any obstacles...

I'm not sure if you want to "sew" your dealership, they may laugh at you, but you certainly can sue them....if you'd like. You can sue pretty much anybody for anything you'd like...winning on the other hand, is a different story. Good luck, but I'd let this one go...or make a calm, cool, plea to the dealership or BMW, IF the sensors didn't work.

just because your car takes the idiot out of driving, it doesnt take the idiot out of the driver. That being said, you do the driving, not your car. Look back next time.

"Even with PDC, final responsibility for estimating the distance between the vehicle and any obstructions always remains with the driver." When I first read this I thought to myself "Who would need such a warning?" Now I've got my answer. |

I would think that with the engine stalling it would have made the PDC inoperable. Why was your engine stalling? Do you have the manual transmission? If you were stalling the car because of your use of the clutch, there is no way you could "sew" or sue BMW.
Ultimately the driver is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle. Sorry, mate.

Isn't anybody going to bring up the urban legend about the guy setting the cruise control? Seems to fit in this thread somehow.

I understand you are upset, But I think you have to let go and think of it as a new bumper for your car.
I'm sure the old one got some rock chips and maybe bird poops.

My grandmother says sewing is very theraputic. Maybe a nice quilt will help you get the dent off your mind.

This is what worries me about things like pdc and those new auto stop features that MB is advertising...people start to rely on them rather than their own sense of self preservation.

we are past that tipping point as people will rely on anything but their own sense of common sense or self preservation. if they did that they would have to take self responsibility. we know that most people avoid that like the swine flu.

I have the back up sensors and I still backed into my Dad's Jeep. Luckly the corner of the bumper popped back out.
