2011 cost cutting whilst increasing the price

First it was the Luggage Blind, now I see that the spare wheel well under the luggage floor is no longer trimmed out with carpet, and now I'm hearing that they are hiking the price by 500 dollars as of today to pay for LED angle eyes that you all want, that we in Europe got as part of the 2011 update, that was released to the public in June 2010.

tell me, when do the 2012s go on sale in the USA ???
would that be May 2011 ????????

you might eventually get 8 speed trannies and the 40d by then.
Or maybe you can get the 8 speed now from October !!!!
maybe that is part of what you will get for paying 500 more

Don't be fooled - the $500 increase is just to increase profits and make shareholders happier - it rarely will relate to getting more!

Exactly, that's my point !!!
new buyers are already getting less for their money, now BMW are increasing the price of getting less.

While I agree and dont like getting less for more, I had (and will continue to have) choices when purchasing a car/SAV and can opt not to buy a BMW/X5. My point is that we choose to buy.

Downgraded the base stereo, too. My 2007 and 2008 both had the base sound system and it was acceptable if not great. No more - premium sound is pretty much mandatory over here now, unless you are going to spend your time listening to talk radio. (News to BMW: why give us HD radio if you're going to make us listen to it through a crappy system?)

Then again, old timers like me remember when every BMW actually came with a rechargable flashlight, a jack, a tool kit, and a first aid kit. God, I am OLD!

I don't like to admit to getting old !
but I'm 50 + so I guess I am "getting Old" but I'm not there yet

is that rechargable flash lite an option ? if I buy one, can the X5 (2010 MY) charge it, or did they cost cut all that out as well ???

Both my E39 540 and E60 550 came with nifty rechargable lights that plugged into a dedicated receptacle in the glove box. That's long since gone. My 2008 M3 came with a non-rechargable penlight, and a leather iPod case. Both were discontinued for the 2009 models. (Just like the spare tire that was standard on my 2007 X5 was an option on the 2008).

In all fairness, at the same time BMW decontents the cars, they are adding stuff like 12 volt power outlets, Aux input jacks, etc.

Yeah, I noticed the spare tire area is not trimmed (if you have the spare), looks pretty nasty.

The US does have the 8 speed trannies, but only for the petrol engines, not the diesel.

That's because the Diesels have the torque to pull thru, and the Petrol needs all the help it can get
