Would you buy an X6 without rear view camera?

Hello,

I found a nice 2009 X6 pretty much loaded but it does not have the rear view camera (that seems to be such a spudid thing not to have ordered when pretty much every other option is on the car). Anyhow, with the bad visibility, I would think not having the rear view camera is a show stopper. What are your thoughts?

The rear view camera comes in handy and is an essential asset with the rear blind spot. I alos saw on the other post you were looking at a 2008 X6, however, keep in mind the warranty period. My next door neighbor has a 2009 as a daily driver and the car has sustained zero problems.

I tend to be a bit of an option whore, but the rear-view camera really is necessary enough that it should be standard on the X6.

On a related note, I had "side view" cameras on my 750i and thought they were ridiculously useless. I now have the "top view" camera on the X6 and like it a lot, but don't think it's a necessity.

The X6 comes with park distance control, the camera is nice but not required.

If the camera is required, you might just be one who finds driving in general to be challenging.

Although I don't find the camera on mine to be a requirement it does come in handy as an extra set of eyes so to speak. I managed to get along just fine with just park distance control on my 328 once upon a time.

I found that I can't see how close I am to a wall when I'm backing into a parking space when using only the RV. Turning around and looking is more useful, but I had banged the bumper of my E53 several times over 7 yrs with such shenanigans. The Top View camera is perfect for that situation and I use it all the time in our parking garage.

Yeah, it's great for situations like that.

The PDC worked fine for me. A camera would be nice but it wouldn't be a deal breaker IMO.

I agree and disagree, for parking in tight spots you need the rear view, specially in the metros, I find it very useful. That being said, in general when I drive my wife's 6 series which unfortunately doesnt have a camera I find myself challenged and helpless! But it was kind of the same feeling when I gave up my M3 with comfort access, my X6 doesnt have comfort access, but it was forgotten soon

anyway, it depends on where you are parking, so its ur decision, with X6's size it is a requirement in tight spots, otherwise you should be fine with pdc

I've just bought an X6 that doesn't have a reversing camera and I do have some concerns about the rearwards visibility. When I was test driving the car I was sitting at traffic lights with nothing apparently behind me until I had a second look and just about spotted a low sports car that was too low to be appearing in my rear mirror.

My drive is on a slight slope and I will be worrying that one of the neighbourhood small children might be behind me when I'm reversing off the drive so I may well have the reversing camera retro fitted just for peace of mind

I don't have a camera, but then again I do not have neck problems (yet) and can twist around and look. The side mirrors also reflect nicely. The sensors and cameras give an unfortunate sense of security. Looking for yourself is always the best policy.

I would not touch that car without the camera. I park in a large parking garage and would never be able to do that with out the extra eyes! Not to say how many people I would have backed over!
