Text to Speech Navigation?

Today is my 4th day of ownership and was trying the navigation system. Does X5 have text to speech capabilities, i.e. reading out road names? I have looked through every possible menu. It would be a shame it didn't have as then I would have to carry my garmin with me as well!

My 2010 doesn't have that feature in the SatNav, & I don't remember any 2011 owner saying that they have it.

which Garmin model is it? I guess you are referring to a hand held ?

I would like to know as well . I have a new 2011 X5 50i also ( LOVE it ! ) and tried the Navigation out and didnt like it . Garmin is so much better Unless there is a setting somewhere that I dont know about ? Would love for it to say the street names instead of turn in so many feet

I have a Garmin 785T (Portable handheld unit) and I love it. I hope that BMW releases a firmware update soon.

Unfortunately text to voice is unavailable with this system. Only interstates and major numbered roads are spoken

I find it strange that the car can do voice control but not be able to say street names and yet a $100 Garmin can say street names! I am extremely disappointed. I just hope that they are able to fix it with an update in the near future as it is supposed to be a "professional" navigation system.
