Lemforder /= Made In Germany

I just wanted to share a little bit of information regarding Lemforder parts.

I've noticed, searching around the forums the last few months, that everyone seems to think that Lemforder parts are all made in Germany. This is not necessarily the case!

I just purchased a set of Lemforder Z3 control arms from Pelican Parts, and they had a sticker on them saying "Made in Slovenia."

So, if you're trying to decide between Lemforder and, say, Meyle, and decide based on the country of manufacture, just remember you aren't necessarily getting a German-made part just because you buy Lemforder! Had I known this beforehand, I may have saved the $20 and purchased Meyle HD for the full-metal ball-joints.

By the way, the arms seem VERY high, quality... no worries there. We'll see how the ball joints wear over time, though.

Isn't this the same as buying a Z3 and thinking you have a Geman automobile?

Agreed! I wasn't complaining... but there are plenty of people out there (I myself included, until a few days ago) that think all Lemforder parts are made in Germany.

I don't know HOW many posts I've read by people in the past whining about Meyle products being made in Turkey. But if Lemforder parts are made in Slovenia, there really isn't any room for those folks to complain simply because of country of origin, is there?

Now if the QUALITY sucks, that's a different story... Hamburg Technic "springs" to mind (pun intended).

indeed, some parts are manufactored in Slovenia or China from Lemforder. They sell it expensive like an OE part.
You've got other suppliers aswell, not yet OE, but same Quality, aftermarket specialists and almost OE qualified

Such as Sidem , www.sidem.be

Less expensive and same Quality, EU quality norm

ps: well known problem for Serie 3 (E46) and Z4
