Apple 'iPod Out' Functionality in iDrive

Hi Everyone -

There's a lot of buzz about the iPod Out functionality by Apple being supported in iDrive sometime in 2011. Here's a video:

Question: I know that older versions of iDrive won't be able to be upgraded for this new feature. However, I ordered an X5 35i (week 42 production) that has the new ComboBox addition and supports the standard ipod cables. Apparently the firmware can be upgraded through this USB port as well. Does anyone know if this newer hardware will support iPod Out functionality through an upgrade in the future?

Until it gets released next year, probably march 2011, who knows .... however given BMWs track record with tech updates ... highly unlikely.
