Front Seats

I am debating on whether to fix my seats in my 540i both front has a lean to them. I was wonder if it would be easier to fix them or buy used from a junk yard. A local salvage yard has a set that does not lean to them but they have been in the weather. Would it be possible to take the leather covers from my seats and install them on the ones from the salvage yard? I am just curious how much work would it be?

Fix the ones you have. Very simple fix. If you have pliers, a screw driver and a lighter, you can DIY. The "lean" to which you refer is called "seat twist". They all do this. The cable in the motor shorten or something.

Do I have to take the seats out of the car to do this?

Speaking of seats both my front seats seem to have developed a slight 'rocking' effect to them. If I push back and forward hard enough they seem a little lose somewhere. Not sure why, anyone know?

Ahults, you don't have to, but I think it's easier. It's two bolts at the back , push forward and tilt up. It'll come right out. And you have to unbolt your seatbelt, and unplug the wire in the bottom

im curious have yu had the problem when yu lean the seat back the only one side of the back of the seat leans? if so how can i correct the problem to it
