2D03 code 2005 X5 p1721
2005 x5. Battery went dead now I have p1721 code and car won't run. You can hear the throttle opening and closing when the key is on. If you get it to run the check engine light and battery light are going on and off. You can not drive it the engine speed is going up and down till it dies??????

Did the battery go completly dead? If so, did you replace it or just jump start the vehcile?

You'd be surprised the issues bad batteries can cause with BMW electronics. Hold the battery cable together overnight (clearly detached from the battery) to kind of force reset the ECU, Replace the battery ($80 from Autozone), and let us know what happens.
