iDrive screen part number?

Hi,

Does anyone know how much it would cost to replace the iDrive screen if it's scratched? I've read on a few forums and people been saying that the entire unit has to be replaced. I've noticed the screen for the iDrive and the speedometer is similar, so it wouldn't make sense to replace the entire iDrive unit just because the screen is scratched. Is there a part number or something that can be ordered?

Check P/N 65829226386... it looks like it is just the plastic cover (the part scratched in your display) not the whole display module: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...54&hg=65&fg=50

This sounds dumb... but, is that just a parts' list which I have to order it from the dealership?

You can order the part by number from any BMW dealer's parts department. There are several that sell online and give a discount whether or not you're a member of the BMWCCA (car club of America). One a lot of people here have used is Tischer BMW - getbmwparts.com

Search by part number 65829226386 (as per Technic). It's about $110.

You need to look at item #2, that's the plastic cover that is scratched in your car. To scratch item #1 (the whole LCD display with plastic cover assembly) you will need to somehow go thru the plastic cover to get it.

Just received the part. Item #2 does not have the plastic cover I was looking for, it's just a hallow piece of frame without the plastic. So I guess the dealer was right when they said I have to order and replace the entire system. There goes $129 down the drain, lets hope they will take returns.

Is this a deep scratch? If not you can try polishing it...

That is the part, it used to come with it, they stopped coming with the plastic shield around 2010. My LCI 2009 has it. I wonder if we can still order it with the plastic with cars that came with it?
