Not on an e36 but I rewired a W126 Merc making the hermes as I went. Not as much fun as jumping on a grenade that's for sure.

Plus, look at the offset. et20. You'll have all of the rubbing issues of Style 5s.

An m62 engine is for sale near me. It put v8 powah dreams in my head. A little research about the dohc behemoth engine fitting into an e36 quickly squashed those thoughts.

Yep I've already checked out some older bmws for that reason. You know, buy a daily driver to replace a daily driver turned rocketship.

You guys are a bad influence!

They shoehorn those in E30s, it should certainly fit in an E36.

Get the engine and a shell E36 and go for it! As long as you have the space, why not? You can find the time whenever and schedule it out. Who cares if it takes a year or more? Ever since watch Home Improvement - Tim the "Tool Man" Taylor building a hot rod in his garage, I've wanted to do the same.

Bolt-on s50/s52 makes as much power with less weight/complexity than an m62. Probably about the same cost, too.

It doesn't make the same noise though. And that's the defining moment of stardom at a show. Nobody can see you, but you can be damn sure they hear you

How about sleeping until its turned on?!

I'm passing on it. It requires lots of fab work skills, extra garage space, and time. I dont have any of those three. There are a couple small projects already queued up anyway.

I got to drive an M6 coupe with a 6spd in anger once. That motor is the stuff dreams are made of. In 500hp mode, the tires do nothing but spin in 1st (even with the traction control on) and somehow in 2nd (with the help of said traction control) it gets those big 285 rear tires to stick to something and launches you like God flicks the rear bumper. I shifted into 3rd and looked at the speedo and I was already bearing down on 90. Unfortunately I was in a pretty urban area so that was the only time i got to stretch its legs. Its quite a machine, that's for sure.

I went to youtube and checked out that M6 vid on the Autobahn with Hans Stuck again just to remind myself how fast that SOB is..

I seriously doubt it will sell locally somebody from out of state will come in and grab it at some point..
