If its still available after the weekend, I'll go take a look at it and offer him $2,500ish.

Me too. I love 944's. I see a decent amount of them down here too. I'll keep a lookout for you if you want. Almost all of them are rust free

The real trick is finding, clean, after 85.5, and manual trans. Shocking how many automatic 944's there are.

For anybody looking for a parts car. I wanted it to pull the engine and then part the rest out... not going to happen though.

That's a really great deal. That car would be super easy to fix. Owner seems to be a BMW enthusiast, with that nice 6'er in the garage.

Didn't even think of flipping it to be honest. Actually gonna look into that. Got a lot of free time next week and could use the cash.

It's been my luck lately. Deals like that pop up when I just dumped my money into my car. Let me know if you need any help, it's a quick shot over the bridge for me.

Cool, will do. Only a little sketched out about driving it home if I do buy it. Getting a temp registration sucks, and driving that far (and through the city) would be a little risky. Especially considering that I usually use the spare plate from my car (would be following it back)

If the core support is bent, it could have cracked the radiator somewhere, or is probably putting stress on the hose flanges which may crack if you have to drive it home a long ways. Would seem pretty sketch, for sure. He didn't mention the rad being broken (but he did say it's new), but it's hard to imagine bending the core support without also damaging the radiator somehow.

Yeah, that's something to keep in mind, but I'd be more bothered by the legal aspect. I have spare radiator supports and hoses that I could bring to figure something out.

CJ, I drove my car home from Raleigh to Charleston with no tags, if you are buying out of state the bill of sale should be sufficient for you to drive it to NY. You can't get a NY tag for a car bought in PA, they won't issue the temp tag without the bill of sale. Check with your DMV but I am pretty sure it applies everywhere. I asked the DMV here when I went and bought mine, because I thought the same thing.

Really now?
I called them. Conversation as follows:
Me- You have an M3 for sale?
Him-yes, it's a really nice car too
Me-What engine does it have in it
Him-1.9 four cylinder
Me-dude that's not an M3, it's 318ti
Him-yes, it's a 318ti, m3
Me-no such thing
Him-it has m3 labels
Me-someone put them on it, BMW never made a 1.8L M3, or a an M3 hatchback.
Him-it's 1.9
Me- For starters that's a 1.8L engine, a 4cylinder, M3's have an inline 6 cylinder engine. Huge difference. You have a 318ti and it's NOT an M3.
Him-Oh, okay. It's still a really nice car
Me-I'm sure it is.

lol @ Jon for actually calling!

Though the OBDII 318 is 1.9L. No idea why BMW did that.

Same reason the 323 has a 2.5?
Forgot about the up size in motor after OBDII. I actually think he may have been swindled into thinking it was an M3. Or he's a crook. Or an idiot. Maybe both? But for some reason I envisioned someone else buying it thinking they had an M3, so I called. Public service for today done!

My car is clearly badged 3 series 2.3L ....no idea what your talking about...unless they recalculated it because of all the restrictions this satanic machine has. Props for calling that's hysterical.
