2004 BMW 745Li Clifford Remote Start App/ alarm
Has anybody successfully installed or had someone install an aftermarket remote start/ security system such as the Clifford CS5000 (which i am looking to buy) into this vehicle or similar (E65/E66 etc..) ? Im looking into installing this and will probably do all the research manually myself if I dont hear anything from anyone in this forum. I know our 7 series is a beast on electrical and I have already looked up the wiring schematics
alot of interfacing etc... any input would be cool. hit me up! Any fellow install technicians on the forum?

Uhh yeah, it actually hasn't been successful regarding attempts. Regardless, BMW states since the engine is all-aluminum, it's better to just start a cold engine and drive gently until it warms up.

since im getting several "uhh yea" (unsuccessful) attempts.. id like links or some type of proof that this has been thoroughly covered/attempted. I havent found anything or have heard a specific reason why this cant be done. Obviously the ones that are stating that this "can't" be done have some type of "proof" that I'd like to be filled in on, thanks again.

The only one I seen successful was a 3 series on YouTube. And it seemed to be factory...it was also a euro model. Euro models always have better options anyway. Everything in this car is tied together via fiber optic and that's not something you wanna try looping cutting into.

I installed it in my wife's X5 4.4 at a shop in Vancouver. I paid $500 all in.
Works like a charm. |

i have installed them in 5 series, 3 series and the x5's but I have never done one or heard of one successfully done in a 7. Possibly after the holidays i will save up and give it a crack on my own 7. I will keep you guys updated. Believe that!

I think the rerason that it hasnt been done is nobody wants to find out the side afects of hacking into the wiring loom. Good luck if you do decide.

I have looked into the idea of a remote start on the E65 or E66 series BMW's. the main hurdle would be you will need to intergrate a main PC in to the car and let all the logic for the transfer of information and diagnostic be there. For example ti will be like having TIS, DASHSOFT, INPA constantly monitoring all aspects of the car. all cahnges will be made thru the central CPU. But then that will/would be for the tech savy person not just a new be.

My buddies high end shop put on in on an E65.. they generally are very good and do some very cool custom stuff on Porsche, etc.. Anyway, it was a huge nightmare, it took them days, the cust. had to pick car up and bring back, they had horrible problems with timing on something, once they finally got it working they sat there and started and stopped the car like 50 times in a row to make sure all was well.. I remember thinking to myself wow, all that work and they are probably putting tremendous wear on that car, not to mention hacking up all the wiring.. no thank you!

+1 on the "no thank you". I have remote start on two of my cars, I'll never entertain the idea of trying it on my 7.
